It has been revealed that at least one student has been confirmed dead at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Lantang in Plateau State, following the fresh outbreak of Lassa fever in the institution.
According to The Punch, out of the four students that were tested for the disease, the results of three were positive, while the victim was said to have been buried on Friday.
To check the spread of the disease and possible deaths, the state government said it would despatch a team of Doctors to Lantang community and place those who came in contact with them, including Doctors and Nurses who attended to them at Jos University Teaching Hospital on 21 days surveillance.
The Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kamshak Kudeng, confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever in an interview with The Punch in Jos on Friday.
