TROUBLE IN PARADISE AS RONALDO DEMANDS £36m FROM MADRID OR HE QUITS

Cristiano Ronaldo has asked Real Madrid to cough out £36m (N17.8 billion) as his yearly salary, to bring him at par with his Barcelona rival, Lionel Messi or he will leave the club.
At present Ronaldo earns £18.6m a year, but reports from multiple sources said the Portuguese star wants a pay rise of  close to  £17million, which will make his pay packet swell to £35.6 million.
According to Sport, the Portuguese forward has made it clear to Real’s hierarchy that he wants monetary parity with Messi or he will leave the club.
According to reports, Messi got a fatter pay  at the Nou Camp following his recently signed deal.
Ronaldo, who signed a new contract in November 2016, has been left frustrated by Real president Florentino Perez who has stalled on offering him an improved contract.
Reports in Spain have said that the 32-year-old was promised one after spearheading Real to a La Liga and Champions League double last season.
However, without fruition of one; Los Blancos’ No 7 feels undervalued and has cited this as a reason for his goalscoring woes at the moment.
Ronaldo, who has been linked with a return to Manchester United, signed his current five-year contract – which runs until 2021 – in November 2016.
Should Real pay?
Sixty nine per cent of the people who responded to an online poll by www.marca.com, believed the Spanish giants should not do so, why 31 per cent supported his demand.
Pablo Polo, writing for Marca, argues that Real Madrid should ignore Ronaldo’s blackmail on four grounds:
First because Ronaldo isn’t at his best right now, at least in LaLiga, where he has just four goals.
Secondly, Ronaldo  renewed his contract in November of 2016 and his current deal runs until he is 36. He’ll be making more money than most, even at this age.
Polo also reasoned that Ronaldo  may have been the best player of 2017, but the situation has changed.
Sergio Fernandez  writes that the star player deserves the new wage because the Madrid President, Florentino Perez has always said  that Ronaldo is the best player in the world and in history.
“Being fair, Ronaldo has paid back every euro he’s earned and has brought so many individual and collective titles to the club.
“Real Madrid still have the Copa del Rey and the Champions League to fight for this season and, with an on-form Ronaldo, this could still be a not-terrible year for the club”.

AFTER 38 YEARS OF BEING RULED BY ONE MAN, ANGOLA FINALLY GETS A NEW PRESIDENT

Angola’s first new president in almost four decades vowed to rebuild an economy devastated by falling oil prices and fight corruption at his inauguration on Tuesday.
João, New President Of Angola

João Lourenço told thousands of supporters in Luanda he would also tackle gaping inequality in Africa’s second largest oil producer - though analysts have already raised doubts about his ability to make far-reaching change.

“No one is so rich and powerful that they cannot be punished and no one is so poor that they cannot be protected,” he said to loud applause.

In a 45-minute speech, Lourenço said he would strive to bring in reforms covering gender equality, the freedom of the press, private enterprise and public health.

Former president Jose Eduardo dos Santos remains head of the ruling MPLA party, giving the veteran leader influence over key policy decisions.

Any serious attempt to transform the country could put Lourenço on a collision course with senior party figures and powerful interest groups.

Angola’s economy fell into recession last year, while unemployment is officially over 20 percent and a shortage of foreign currency has forced firms to pull back operations.

Lourenço said he would work to reduce state intervention in the economy and give free enterprise the space and support to thrive.

He has previously said he does not rule out negotiating a deal with the International Monetary Fund or World Bank to help rebuild an economy heavily reliant on oil.
“There are enormous challenges before us ... We call on the help of everyone on this difficult journey,” he said.

SHOCKER: MAID CAUGHT RED-HANDED FORCING 5-YEAR OLD BOY TO FONDLE HER PRIVATE PART

File photo: Used for illustration
A Zimbabwean maid who was employed by a Hwange family has appeared in court yesterday on allegations of forcing her employer’s five-year-old daughter to caress her privates for s*xual pleasure.

According to Newsday, this was heard when Petronela Mathabisa Ncube (20) of DRC, Empumalanga, appeared before Hwange magistrate, Rosemary Dube, charged with indecent assault.

Prosecutor Portia Munsaka told the court that sometime between June and August this year, Ncube would invite the minor to her bedroom and order her to undress her and to tickle her genitals until she was s*xually satisfied.

Ncube allegedly threatened to assault the girl if she did not comply or reported the matter to her parents.

The matter came to light when the minor’s mother allegedly caught them in the act, and filed a police report.

Ncube has denied the charge and was remanded in custody to today for trial.

DRAMA AS ANGRY WIFE GRABS HUSBAND P*NIS FOR DENYING HER S*X DURING FASTING AND PRAYER

Venson Masuku and his wife Langelihle Moyo
A Zimbabwean woman from Matsheumhlope suburb in Bulawayo ran berserk and viciously grabbed her husband’s testicles and yanked them hard as payback for refraining from s*x during a fast.

According to B-Metro, after being fed up with being ignored by her husband Venson Masuku, the seemingly s*xually frustrated Langelihle Moyo couldn’t hold back her emotions when she repeatedly squeezed his testicles until he reportedly collapsed as he screamed for help.

Narrating his ordeal at the Bulawayo Civil Court where he sought a restraining order against his wife, Masuku said 30 August 2017, would forever be remembered as the day he narrowly missed the claws of death. He said his wife had a tug-of-war game with his jewels after he refused to have s*x with her.

This was after he received a prophecy from church that he should refrain from s*x while fasting for their sick child.

“I am seeking a protection order against my wife because she is abusive. She is always assaulting me, the latest incident being on 30 August when she pulled my private parts at the same time shouting at me with vulgar language.
This was after I had refused to have s*x with her since I was fasting.
“Your Worship, I refused to entertain her s*x demands after I received a prophecy from church that I should refrain from s*x for some days since our child was not feeling well. In a fit of anger she then repeatedly pulled my testicles saying she wanted to have s*x with me,”Masuku said amid sobs.

Masuku who was nearly rendered impotent begged the court to protect him from his abusive wife by granting an order that barred her from harassing him.

Defending herself Moyo said her husband was the one who triggered the fight by forcibly grabbing her on the neck.
“Some of the accusations he levelled against me are not true. What happened on the day in question is that he forcibly grabbed me by my neck before I pushed him away and in the process I ended up grabbing his private parts so that he could set me free,” said Moyo.

After the couple’s submissions, the presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova in his ruling ordered Moyo not to physically harass her husband or to conduct herself in a violent manner towards him.

EXPOSED PORNSTAR FORCED TO QUIT HER JOB AS A SCHOOL TEACHER

Dr Robyn Jane Williams
Dr Robyn Jane Williams, a transgender teaching assistant was forced to quit her job after it emerged she led a secret double life as a p*rn star.

According to The Sun UK, Dr Robyn Jane Williams, a learning support worker, is accused of appearing in smutty films and magazines while working for a top college.

She was hauled before a fitness to practice hearing in Ewloe, North Wales, to answer three counts of unacceptable professional conduct yesterday.

But she failed to turn up and the tribunal was adjourned indefinitely.

In a blog post written before the hearing, Dr Williams, said: “Some time ago, I had to leave my previous job when a man outed me as a porn model to my employer.
“I had never connected my two separate roles. I worked with adults and not children.
“I had little choice, either I faced disciplinary action or left.”
Dr Williams said she was “not complaining”, and the move meant she was able to live out her dream of running an event catering business.

She added that “privacy will always be a problem” when working in the adult sex industry, but said she found the work “validating”.
The charges include posing for photographs of a pornographic nature and knowing they were to appear in an adult magazine.

The third allegation is that she appeared in a pornographic video.

She was working at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, an umbrella organisation which runs Wales' largest further education institutions with more than 34,000 students.

The material is said to have been filmed at an unknown date before April 13, 2016.

In a statement, a spokesman for Grŵp Llandrillo Menai said: “Dr Williams has not been employed by the grŵp since April 2016.
“Grŵp Llandrillo Menai suspended the employee as soon as the allegations came to light and the matter was consequently reported to the EWC.
“We are fully supporting the EWC in their investigation.”

OVER 500 PEOPLE DIE IN CONGO CHOLERA EPIDERMIC

The World Health Organisation on Tuesday said more than 500 people have so far died in cholera epidemic sweeping the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The world body said in a statement that outbreaks of the water-borne disease occur regularly in Congo, mainly due to poor sanitation and the lack of access to clean drinking water.

It stated that this year’s epidemic, which hit at least 10 urban areas including Kinshasa, was particularly disturbing as about 1.4 million people were displaced by violence in the central Kasai region.

The WHO said at least 528 people had died and the epidemic had spread to 20 of Congo’s 26 provinces.

It noted that “the risk of spread remains very high toward the Grand Kasai region, where degraded sanitary and security conditions further increase vulnerability in the face of the epidemic.
“So far, health officials have recorded more than 24,000 suspected cases of the disease across the vast nation this year, averaging more than 1,500 new cases per week since the end of July.”
It added that WHO sent a team of experts, including epidemiologists and public health specialists to Congo this month to contain the spread of the disease.

NORTH KOREA TESTS 'H-BOMB' THE MOST POWERFUL NUCLEAR BOMB EVER MADE

North Korea claims to have successfully tested a hydrogen bomb, the country's sixth-ever test of a nuclear weapon and first since US President Donald Trump took office.

The test was a "perfect success" and the final step in attaining a "state nuclear force," long-time news anchor Ri Chun Hee said in a televised announcement Sunday.

The news report claimed the weapon was designed to fit atop an intercontinental ballistic missile. The nuclear test follows two successful tests of the long-range missile in July and a shorter-range one in late August.

In a high-level national security meeting, South Korea President Moon Jae-in called the move a "an absurd strategic mistake" that will lead to the international community further isolating Pyongyang.

Experts say it is nearly impossible to verify with certainty Pyongyang's claim that it detonated a hydrogen bomb, which is also known as a thermonuclear weapon, or whether it can actually be used successfully on a missile. Thermonuclear weapons typically use a fission explosion to create a fusion reaction, which is far more powerful than a fission reaction.

NORSAR, an independent seismic monitor, estimated the blast created a yield of about 120 kilotons. The tremors caused by North Korea's Sunday test were at least 10 times more powerful than the fifth test, Japanese officials said. An official at the Korea Meteorological Administration estimated the blast was about 50 kilotons.

The test came just hours after North Korea released images of leader Kim Jong Un inspecting what it said was a hydrogen bomb ready to be put on top of an intercontinental ballistic missile, the type of weapon the country would need to use to deliver a nuclear warhead to far-away locations.
"We shouldn't be surprised by the fact they had the test, but usually they spread it out a bit," said Melissa Hanham, a senior research associate in the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS).

Hanham said it's impossible to say if the peanut-shaped object shown in the images released by North Korean state media was detonated.
"When you're evaluating these explosions, you have to do it with a grain of salt because you're trying to mold a mathematical equation to something that's happening in the real world. And the equations can to grip on things like depth or the geology of the area, and we don't know those kinds of facts," she said.

HOW I SAW JESUS WATCHING OVER MY UNBORN BABY IN MY WOMB.. WOMAN MAKES SHOCKING REVELATIONS

An American couple identified as Alicia Zeek and Zac Smith, are feeling divinely blessed after seeing Jesus looking over their unborn child in the womb.

The Parents were amazed when they saw the 'unmistakeable features' of Jesus Christ next to their baby girl during an ultrasound.

According to BBC, the couple said that Jesus was dressed in his traditional robes with a crown of thorns on his head. He was in the far left of the sonogram, facing the baby.

“When they gave it to us... Umm, to me, it’s Jesus. And it looks like Jesus,” Alicia told local station WPMT.

What made the revelation so important to them is that the couple’s two older kids both had medical issues and they were anxious about the new one.

The couple told Fox 43 that their first baby girl was born with two thumbs on one hand. Their baby boy was born with a cleft palate (a split in the palate of the mouth).

"The angel or God or Jesus, however you want to propose it, I look at it as my blessing," Zac was quoted as saying.

"When I seen it, it almost brought tears to my eyes. I was speechless, I just couldn't believe it."
A healthy Baby Briella was born on 23 August. Mum and baby are both doing well.

UNBELIEVABLE: THIS MAN BOUGHT A ROPE AND HELPED HIS OWN FRIEND TO KILL HERSELF WHILE RECORDING IT ON PHONE

An 18-year-old man identified as Tyerell Przybycien is accused of helping a girl commit suicide while he recorded it on his phone.

According to Metro UK, prosecutors say the young man bought rope and drove Jchandra Brown, 16, to a place where she could hang herself in Payson, Utah, on May 6.

He has been charged with murder.

Police searching the area found Przybycien crying on a nearby trail, reports deseretnews.com.

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Chaplin told the court how Przybycien asked if he wanted to hear ‘the whole story’.

He then explained how he had picked up his friend the previous night and taken her to the scene of her suicide.

Chaplin said: ‘Based on what he had told me, he had witnessed a traumatic event, and I was concerned. I wondered if we needed to get him help.’
The sergeant initially didn’t believe he was a suspect in the case.

He drove him back to the police department because he was concerned about his safety. While he was being interviewed, Chaplin got word from a detective that there was a video of the death on a phone near to where Brown’s body was found.

A note was discovered next to it that read:‘Watch the video, it’s on my phone.’
The court heard how the ten-minute video was being filmed by Przybycien. In it, he can allegedly be heard asking Brown to move. At one point he says: ‘Thumbs up if you’re OK.’
When she is no longer struggling, he adds:‘That’s when the brain stops getting any oxygen… I guess I’ll just leave this here now.’

US SENDS BOMBER JET TO NORTH KOREA AS ANOTHER WORLD WAR LOOMS

Two US Air Force bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula during a 10-hour mission Saturday in response to North Korea’s recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launches, US Pacific Air Forces said.

The mission came a day after North Korea test-fired its second ICBM, with experts saying Pyongyang now has the ability to hit major US cities. The B-1B bombers joined with fighter jets from Japan and South Korea for the mission, the Pacific Air Forces said in a statement.

The action was a “direct response” to North Korea’s ICBM launches on Friday and on July 3, the statement said.

“Diplomacy remains the lead; however, we have a responsibility to our allies and our nation to showcase our unwavering commitment while planning for the worst-case scenario,” Pacific Air Forces commander Terrence O’Shaughnessy said in the statement.
“If called upon, we are ready to respond with rapid, lethal, and overwhelming force at a time and place of our choosing,” O’Shaughnessy said. He said North Korea “remains the most urgent threat to regional stability.”
The US planes took off from Guam and flew to the Korean Peninsula via Japanese airspace, the statement said, and crews practised intercept and formation training during the mission.

Also on Saturday, US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticize China for not doing enough to intervene with North Korea.

“I am very disappointed in China,” Trump tweeted from his personal account. “Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk.”

“We will no longer allow this to continue,” Trump said. “China could easily solve this problem!”

Trump on Friday said the ICBM launch was“only the latest reckless and dangerous action by the North Korean regime.”
US bombers took part in another drill with Japanese and South Korean fighter jets earlier this month in response to the “growing threat from North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear programmes,” the US Air Force said then.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been ratcheted up since the start of last year, with North Korea testing two nuclear bombs and test-firing a series of missiles.

North Korea carried out its first successful ICBM test in early July. Friday’s missile reportedly flew 900 kilometres higher than the first.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL VISA INTERVIEW, NO 10. IS VERY IMPORTANT

1) TIES TO HOME COUNTRY
Under US law, all applicants for nonimmigrant visas are viewed as intending immigrants until they can convince the consular officer that they are not. You must therefore be able to show that you have reasons for returning to your home country that are stronger than those for remaining in the United States.

"Ties" to your home country are the things that bind you to your hometown, homeland, or current place of residence (i.e., job, family, financial prospects that you own or will inherit, investments, etc).

If you are a prospective student, the interviewing officer may ask about your specific intentions or promise of future employment, family or other relationships, educational objectives, grades, long-long range plans, and career prospects in your home country. Each person's situation is different, of course, and there is no magic explanation or single document, certificate, or letter, which can guarantee visa issuance.
2) ENGLISHAnticipate that the interview will be conducted in English and not in your native language. One suggestion is to practice English conversation with a native speaker before the interview. If you are coming to the United States solely to study intensive English, be prepared to explain how English will be useful for you in your home country.

3) SPEAK FOR YOURSELFDo not bring parents or family members with you to your interview. The consular officer wants to interview you, not your family. A negative impression is created if you are not prepared to speak on your own behalf. If you are a minor applying for a high school program and need your parents there in case there are questions, for example, about funding, they should wait in the waiting room.

4) KNOW THE PROGRAM AND HOW IT FITS YOUR CAREER PLANSIf you are not able to articulate the reasons you will study in a particular program in the United States, you may not succeed in convincing the consular officer that you are indeed planning to study, rather than to immigrate. You should also be able to explain how studying in the United States relates to your future professional career in your home country.
5) BE CONCISEBecause of the volume of applications that are received, all consular officers are under considerable time pressure to conduct a quick and efficient interview. They must make a decision, for the most part, on the impressions they form during the first minute or two of the interview. Consequently, what you say first and the initial impression you create are critical to your success. Keep your answers to the officer's questions short and to the point.

6) SUPPLEMENTAL DOCUMENTATIONIt should be clear at a glance to the consular officer what written documents you are presenting and what they signify. Lengthy written explanations cannot be quickly read or evaluated. Remember that you will have 2-3 minutes of interview time, if you're lucky.

7) NOT ALL COUNTRIES ARE EQUALApplicants from countries suffering economic problems or from countries where many students have remained in the United States as immigrants will have more difficulty getting visas. Statistically, applicants from those countries are more likely to be asked about job opportunities at home after their study in the United States.

8) EMPLOYMENTYour main purpose of coming to the United States should be to study, not for the chance to work before or after graduation. While many students do work off-campus during their studies, such employment is incidental to their main purpose of completing their US education.

You must be able to clearly articulate your plan to return home at the end of your program. If your spouse is also applying for an accompanying F-2 visa, be aware that F-2 dependents cannot, under any circumstances, be employed in the United States. If asked, be prepared to address what your spouse intends to do with his or her time while in the United States. Volunteer work and attending school part-time are permitted activities.

9) DEPENDENTS REMAINING AT HOMEIf your spouse and children are remaining behind in your country, be prepared to address how they will support themselves in your absence. This can be an especially tricky area if you are the primary source of income for your family. If the consular officer gains the impression that your family members will need you to remit money from the United States in order to support themselves, your student visa application will almost certainly be denied. If your family does decide to join you at a later time, it is helpful to have them apply at the same post where you applied for your visa.

10) MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDEDo not engage the consular officer in an argument. If you are denied a student visa, ask the officer for a list of documents he or she would suggest you bring in order to overcome the refusal, and try to get the reason you were denied in writing.

MAN RELEASES NAKED PHOTOS OF HIS GIRLFRIEND TO A WHATSAPP GROUP AFTER FINDING OUT THAT SHE'S CHEATING ON HIM

Munashe Herbert Runganga, a Zimbabwean man who got angry after being jilted, has posted nude photographs of his live-in lover on a WhatsApp group with more than 300 people after discovering photos of different men in her mobile phone.

According to H-Metro, Munashe Herbert Runganga posted n*de photographs of Ratidzo Masenda showing her private parts on a Whatsapp group, accusing her of dating several men while he was serving a jail term.

Runganga confirmed sending the photographs, saying Ratidzo had been abusing him s*xually to the extent of having unprotected s*x without being tested for HIV and starving his children.
“I’m the one who posted n*de photographs of Ratidzo, she is so cruel that she ruined my life and family by making sure I got arrested before starving my children” said Runganga.
“She admired me while I was a vendor at XIMEX mall and seduced me and we ended up having unprotected s*x without getting tested following the death of her husband”
“She would not allow me to talk to other ladies, even save a female contact in my mobile phone”
“She would harass my female clients to the point that I ended up joining her in selling clothes at Avondale Flea Market. Having s*x was what she was after and whenever I asked her to excuse me to see my children, she would get me arrested, accusing me of stealing kitchen utensils like knives”
“I used to walk with a knife for protection since I was used to go to Chitungwiza where we worked late and feared for robbers”
“I served a six month jail sentence after she got me arrested and she would visit me with affidavits asking me to sign papers indicating that I am married to her, when in the actual fact we were only lovers”
“She threatened me with further accusations leading to arrest if I did not comply with her demand to marry her”
“I discovered photos of different men in her mobile phone and this proves that she was dating all these men while I was in prison and I felt betrayed and saw it fit to post her nude photographs.
“She has been bedding different young men and after confronting her about this, she claims they were doing business” said Runganga

Ratidzo confirmed her differences with Runganga, saying she had lodged a complaint with the police against Runganga for posting her n*de photographs on a WhatsApp group.
“I have reported the matter to the police and whoever is going to keep posting my nude photographs I will sue them” said Ratidzo.
“My lawyers are now handling the case, Runganga is my husband and who knows, maybe he forced me to pose for the photographs at knife point or at my own will”
“I stand to be advised by my lawyers but what I can tell you for now is I’m seeking guidance from the lawyer and he advised me not to comment before I give him full details of the story”
“I will call you later since I have your contact number, please do not publish this” said Ratidzo.

HE DIES EVERY NIGHT: THIS MAN STOPS BREATHING ANYTIME HE FALLS ASLEEP (SEE THE UNBELIEVABLE)

Liam Derbyshire was born with a very rare congenital disease that causes him to stop breathing every time he falls asleep, BBC reports.

Doctors told his parents that he wouldn’t live past six weeks, but the boy has defied the odds and will soon turn 18-years-old.

Liam suffers from a condition known as central hypoventilation, or “Ondine’s Curse”, after a nymph from French folk stories.

Ondine fell in love with a man called Palemon, and at their wedding, he vowed to love her with his every breath. So when the nymph later discovered his infidelity, she cursed him: “You pledged faithfulness to me with your every waking breath and I accepted that pledge. So be it. For as long as you are awake, you shall breathe. But should you ever fall into sleep, that breath will desert you.” Totally normal stuff for a folk tale, but a similar curse actually exists in real life.

Ondine’s Curse is a very rare condition. It is estimated that only 1,500 people around the world suffer from it, but Liam’s case is one of the most extreme. Milder versions of the condition prevent sufferers from getting a good, repairing sleep, but in the 18-year-old’s case, falling asleep can literally kill him.

CELEBRATION AS PRESIDENT RETURNS AFTER MEDICAL VACATION

The Angolan President, Mr. José Eduardo dos Santos, has returned home after 17 days in Spain where he normally travels for medical treatment and holiday.

President dos Santos, 74, arrived in Luanda late Wednesday, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos. They were received at the Luanda military air base by Vice-President Manuel Domingos Vicente and other top government officials.

The veteran leader has visited the European state several times since 2013, Africa Review said. President dos Santos left Angola on July 3 for Barcelona, with his office alluding in a statement that the visit was private, without divulging details.

He spent 28 days in Spain in May without an official explanation, prompting claims of his death on both the social and traditional media.
“He is in Spain and when he gets fine he will be back home” Foreign Affairs minister Georges Chikoti told journalists in Luanda on May 29.
It was the first time a top government official confirmed that President dos Santos usually went to Spain for medical treatment.
“President dos Santos normally seeks medical treatment in Spain and this is normal for him to be there,” he said.
“It is all right but you know it happens with everyone. Sometimes you don’t fill fine but he is fine.”
President dos Santos has been in power since in 1979 and is Africa’s second longest serving president after Obiang’ Nguema of Equatorial Guinea.

The southern Africa state goes to the polls on August 23 that will see the long-serving leader retire.

The ruling party, MPLA, has nominated Defence minister João Lourenço as its flag bearer for the August presidential contest.

Opposition has been calling on the government to reveal the state of the President health amid reports that Africa’s second-longest ruler is seriously ill. Dos Santos, who has run the oil-producing southern African nation since 1979, first left Angola at the start of May on what was officially billed as a two-week “private visit”.
His daughter, Isabel, took to Instagram to knock down “fake news”, that her father was probably dead.
“Someone has gone so low as to invent information about the death of a man in order to create confusion and turmoil in Angolan politics,” Isabel dos Santos, who is also head of state oil firm Sonangol, said.

Raul Danda, parliamentary president of the opposition UNITA party, said the lack of clarity about the health of the man who has been central to Angola’s stability since the end of a long civil war in 2002 was becoming a national security issue.

Dos Santos, a Soviet-trained oil engineer and veteran of the guerrilla war against Portuguese rule, rarely appears in public but the last time Danda saw him, he did not look well, he said.

IMAM JAILED 13 YEARS FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING LITTLE CHILDREN AT A MOSQUE

A court in the UK has jailed an Imam for sexually touching four young girls during Qur’an lessons at a mosque. He was jailed for 13 years.

The Imam identified as Mohammed Haji Saddique, 81, was in the habit of calling the pupils to sit next to him and read in Arabic from the Muslim holy book. He would then sexually touch the girls in front of his class and slapped students repeatedly if they made mistakes during lessons.

Cardiff crown court heard that Saddique – of Cyncoed, Cardiff – had metal and wooden sticks, which he used to poke the children as they studied.

Saddique, who taught at the Madina mosque in Cardiff for more than 30 years, was convicted of the offences following a trial. A jury found him guilty of 14 offences – six indecent assaults and eight sexual assaults – that took place between 1996 and 2006.

Judge Stephen Hopkins QC jailed Saddique for 13 years and ordered him to register as a s*x offender indefinitely.

“All four complainants were very brave indeed in overcoming not only personal but cultural barriers which they faced in making formal complaints and giving evidence against you,” the judge said. “There is a darker, deviant side to you which this trial has exposed. This was a gross breach of trust – parents sending their young, female children to be taught the Qur’an by you.”
Saddique, who insisted the allegations were a conspiracy by other members of the mosque, had “no idea” of the harm caused by his actions, the judge said.

Classes took place four times a week after school and pupils referred to the imam as “Uncle Saddique” as a mark of respect, the court heard.
“You would attempt to maintain discipline and concentration by tapping or slapping the child sitting next to you who didn’t read correctly,” the judge said. “Every time one of these small children made a mistake you would slap them until they got it right and slap them for every mistake they made.”
Police first launched an investigation in 2006 following complaints by two girls but Saddique denied any wrongdoing. The investigation was restarted in 2016 after two other girls came forward. Saddique would touch the girls under their traditional loose-fitting clothing during his lessons, and rub them against his groin and legs.

In victim impact statements read to the court, the girls, now in their 20s, spoke of the lasting impact of Saddique’s offending.

Speaking of one, the judge said: “It has put her off religion. She deliberately doesn’t own a Qur’an. [For her] the ethos of going to the mosque at any time is that when you are there, God is protecting you. Her idea was shattered because you abused her when she was reading from the holy book.”
Another victim said giving evidence went against “the culture and ethos of those who follow the Islamic faith” and she feared there would be consequences for Saddique’s conviction.

Representing Saddique, Caroline Rees described her client as a “frail and unwell” great-grandfather who was held in high esteem by his family and community. “This is a man of 81 whose life expectancy is not good given his health and age,” she added.

The judge also made Saddique the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

DCI Rob Cronick, of South Wales police, said:“As a result of the verdict and today’s sentence I believe there may be members of the community who may now feel confident enough to speak to the police or our support agencies.”

16 DEAD IN U.S MILITARY PLANE CRASH (SEE DETAILS)

US military aircraft has crashed in the southern state of Mississippi, killing 16 people, US media reported Monday.

The US Marine Corps confirmed that a “mishap” involving a KC-130 occurred in the evening, without providing additional details.

The Clarion-Ledger newspaper and CNN cited Leflore County emergency management director Fred Randle as confirming the death toll of 16.

All 16 victims were on the Marine Corps aircraft and there were no survivors, Randle told CNN.

The incident took place around 4 pm (2100 GMT), the Clarion-Ledger said, noting that firefighters sprayed the aircraft with huge layers of foam to quell the fire.

The plane crashed in a soybean field on the Sunflower-Leflore county line, the paper said. Photos posted on its website showed plumes of black smoke billowing from a green agricultural field.
“Please join Deborah and me in praying for those hurting after this tragedy. Our men and women in uniform risk themselves every day to secure our freedom,” Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said in a statement on Facebook.
