The Department of State Services has said it is not carrying out any recruitment exercise and called on Nigerians to disregard any information to the contrary.
According to the security agency, some fraudulent persons and group are extorting unsuspecting members of the public with the promise that they will employ them in the agency.
The DSS said this in a statement by its spokesman, Mr Tony Opuiyo, on Friday.
“The Service wishes to state for the umpteenth time that it is not currently employing or carrying out any form of exercise in that regard,” it said.
The DSS explained that even if it is recruiting, it will not charge applicants money for that purpose.
The security agency assured Nigerians that it will not hesitate to, in accordance with the law, deal decisively with anyone caught impersonating it.
“While efforts have been sustained at uncovering the network of these fraudsters, the public is enjoined to pass relevant information relating to this to the nearest service command,”it said.
