Gov. Ortom has promised students of BSU who marched in a peaceful protest to the Benue people's house today that he would make sure the strike is called off by Monday.

He promise to plead with the ASUU, BSU chapter on Friday in order for them to allow students back to school.

Meanwhile, students who protested were attacked by hoodlums wearing a t-shirt of the governor, although the situation was salvaged by the presence of security agents on ground.

Some group of hoodlums wearing customised t-shirts of the Benue State Governor, disrupted activities of the student union of Benue State University, BSU, who came out in countless numbers to register their plight relative to the prolonged strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, BSU chapter.

The strike which has lasted for over two months now was due to the unpaid earned allowances which the school's staff were to benefit from the government along side other issues.

BSU students who staged a peaceful protest today carrying placards which have their plights written on them were allegedly attacked by hoodlums , who were suspected to be sent by the governor of the state to hinder their activities.

A reliable source who pleaded anonymity confirmed that they were attacked and beaten up.

ARMED ROBBERS ATTACK AND RAPE STUDENTS AT IGNATIUS AJURU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION RIVERS STATE

Armed robbers have reportedly attacked and r*ped female students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE, in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The students living in an off-campus residence located directly opposite the university have cried out after facing constant r*pe and attacks from robbers. According to Vanguard, residents of the building have also accused the Police Divisional Headquarters in the area of not taking the situation seriously.

Some of the victims said they are living in constant fear due to the attacks.

They said they are being robbed at gunpoint with their laptops and phone taken away which negatively affects their studies.

However, Spokesman of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, frowned at the incident and promised that the police would investigate the allegations.

He said, “If we find that any police personnel refused to discharge its responsibility, such person will be made to face severe punishment.”

A young woman had a four-inch s*x toy surgically removed from her bottom after it almost left her needing a colostomy bag.

Emily Georgia, 20, was enjoying bedroom fun with a male acquaintance when the stainless steel s*x toy vanished after he got "excited" and pushed too hard on it.

After attempts to manually retrieve it failed, Emily says the man suggested leaving it to naturally work its way out - and then scarpered claiming he had work early the following morning.

A concerned friend rushed her to hospital, where doctors warned Emily that there was a risk of it perforating her bowel due to a sharp edge and she faced an hour-long surgery.

A wince-inducing x-ray shows just how dangerously high in Emily's bowels that the s*x toy had ventured. The carer is now speaking out to warn others that embarrassment shouldn't stop those who find themselves in similar predicaments from seeking medical help urgently.

Emily from East Preston, West Sussex, said:"We were having a naughty night in last March and decided to use the toy – I'd never used one before.

"I think he got too excited and managed to push the end of it in too. It was a goner.

"I began to panic and told him I needed to go to hospital. He said it should come out naturally on the toilet and then he said 'I'm really sorry I have work early in the morning' and he shot off.

"My housemate didn't believe me at first but when I began to get upset she realised I wasn't taking the mickey."

The pair rushed to Worthing Hospital and while at A&E Emily scribbled her predicament on a piece of paper and handed it to the receptionist.

Emily said: "I didn't fancy saying it across the reception desk so asked for a pen and paper.

"The receptionist said it happens a lot more often than you think and said she'd heard worse."

Emily was assessed and then went for an x-ray which showed just high up the s*x aid had gone.

Emily said: "I waited for three hours – by this point the pain started to kick in.

"It was already in my bowel bashing me about and because it's made of stainless steel it felt really heavy and uncomfortable.

"I assumed they could get it out manually but it was only when I saw the x-ray did I realise they couldn't and how dangerous it was.

"I'm petrified of needles so when they lay me down and a nurse put a line in I realised they needed to operate. I was terrified."

As she was being wheeled to theatre the following day, doctors told Emily if they couldn't extract it rectally they might have to go through the bowel and take some out which could mean at least six months with a colostomy bag.

The toy also had a fake sharp-edged gem on its base which doctors warned could have perforated her bowel. Emily said: "Obviously when they said about the colostomy bag I was devastated – I'm only 20.

"I'm a carer and I've seen colostomy bags – they're not pretty, I've never been so frightened.

"When they spoke about the gem and that it could perforate my bowel I was devastated that a night of fun could have killed me."

On March 29 Emily underwent hour-long surgery which involved placing a camera inside her before manually extracting it. Post-surgery nurses offered the toy as a keepsake which she accepted.

Emily said: "When I first woke up I wanted to go back to sleep as I didn't want to look down at my tummy in case they had to cut me open to get to it.

"As they didn't have to go through my stomach I'm guessing they managed to get it out the other way."

She was discharged the following day and tentatively made her way home. Emily now wants to raise awareness and urge anyone in a similar predicament to seek medical attention.

Emily said: "If anyone is in the same situation I would advise to obviously try and get it out yourself first but then definitely take yourself straight to the hospital if you can.

"It's not as embarrassing as it seems – people at A&E see things like this all the time and will have seen far worse things up people's rectums.

"The hospital staff were amazing – they were so funny and never once made me feel uncomfortable, that's why I find it so easy to talk about."

Worthing Hospital declined to comment.

SPAIN DEPORTS 23 NIGERIANS FOR VARIOUS OFFENSES

23 Nigerians deported from Spain for committing various offences Tuesday arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMlA, Lagos, Vanguard reports.

This is the third deportation of Nigerians from Europe and Libya after almost a month break due to the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command who confirmed the arrival said the deportees, comprising of 21 males and two females, were brought back in a Privilege Style aircraft with registration number EC-IZO.

According to Alabi,“the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) , the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police. Also present to receive them were officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)”.

He also said; “Nine of the suspects, who were deported for drug-related offences, were handed over to the NDLEA.Two others who were deported for criminal offences, were handed over to the police. And the remaining 12 deportees, who allegedly committed immigration-related offences, were profiled and allowed to go to their respective destinations”.

Recall that 34 Nigerians were last week also deported from six European countries for committing immigration-related offences. They were deported from Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

The deportees, comprising of 32 males and two females, were brought back in a chartered Airblue Panorama aircraft.

Last week deportation came barely two days after 175 Nigerians who voluntarily agreed to be deported from Libya arrived the cargo section of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos aboard a chartered Nouvelair aircraft with registration number TS-INA.

The returnees, made up of 34 males, 122 females, 10 children and nine infants, were assisted back to Nigeria by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM9) and the Nigerian Embassy in Libya.

EDO GOVERNOR ORDERS EMPLOYMENT OF 4,200 YOUTHS IN THE STATE

In line with his promise to create at least 200,000 jobs within four years, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has ordered the employment of 4,200 youths across the State under the Edo State Public Works Programme.

The Programme which is to take off with effect from July 1, is to work on the construction of 45 inner roads selected under this special window.

Obaseki who disclosed this in a statement endorsed by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, also directed the engagement and training of 50 civil engineers to supervise the public works programme.

The statement further explained that the successful applicants were sourced from the database of unemployed youths developed by the government for the Edo Jobs initiative. “The new employed beneficiaries will work across the State on 45 inner roads selected under this special window.

The governor also promised to engage another set of 4,200 in August 2017 under another window that will see the State Government constructing and maintaining another set of 55 roads, culminating in almost 100 kilometres across the State,” the statement said.

The Governor further enjoined the workers to be dedicated for the period of their engagement with the State Government, as it would eventually amount to experience gathering and capacity building.

Meanwhile, to complement jobs originating from road construction, the State Government also finalised arrangements to train young electrical and electronic engineers under a special arrangement with Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

The programme is expected to build the capacity of young men and women on the practical side of electrical engineering in line with the “Electrify Edo Project,” which kicked off with the signing of a power purchase agreement between the Government and, at different times, Siemens AG and Ossiomo Power limited, few months ago.

EVERTON SECURES 5-YEAR DEAL WITH 20 YEAR OLD NIGERIAN STRIKER

After being wooed by several top clubs in Europe, Nigerian striker, Henry Onyekuru has finally sealed a deal with EPL club, Everton FC.

English Premier League side Everton FC have signed on a 20-year old Nigerian striker, Henry Onyekuru.

The new Super Eagles player is believed to have sealed a five-year deal with the Toffees and is expected to rake in as much as £40,000 weekly. It is understood that Onyekuru will not be starting out in the Premier League immediately as he will be loaned out to Anderlecht in Belgium for a season. And in the last 50 days that this strange spirit has taken up residence in the United Kingdom that nation has suffered one form of tragedy or the other.

If it is not a brutal terrorist attack with bombs, cars or knives it is an avoidable raging fire in which many were gassed to death by cyanide and then burnt alive in the sanctity of their homes.

Wherever that strange spirit and voice from the grave resides it appears to bring bad luck, tragedy, bloodshed, disaster and tears.

Is this not what the Holy Bible describes as the spirit of Achan? Is it not an accursed thing?

Is this not witchcraft and voodoo in its purest and most unadulterated form? Is this not diabolical?

Is this not a national disgrace and a self-inflicted moral crisis and disaster? Do these people have any honor, any dignity or any self-respect? Is there anyhing that this vicious, ruthless, bloodthirsty and relentless cabal of ethnic irredentists and religious bigots not prepared to do to hold on to power in the name of a helpless and dying man?

Must they hold this nation to ransom in an attempt to prove that they are born to rule and that we are born to be slaves? Must they rule us both when they are alive and even when they are dead? When did Nigeria fall into the bestial grip of this barbarous form of deep and mystical occultism?

It appears that we are all under a spell. This enchantment is so deep and powerful that no-one even complains about what is nothing less than a brutal rape and sacriligeous assault on our collective pysche and national sensibilities?

SAD: NEWLYWED MUSLIM COUPLE DIE IN THEIR SLEEP AFTER INHALING GENERATOR FUMES

A husband and wife on the 24th June died in their sleep after inhaling fumes from a power generating set kept inside the house along Ikot Effanga Mkpa in Calabar, Cross River state, according to National Helm.

It was gathered that the young Muslim couple, man 32, woman 27, are both from Jos, Plateau state that just got married in April 2017.

The landlady of their house, Mrs Stella Oruaku said they were alerted by the deceased apprentice who came to check on the boss after repeated calls to his phone without response.

$12million BRIDGE COLLAPSES JUST TWO WEEKS AFTER PRESIDENTIAL INSPECTION

A Kenyan bridge that is being constructed at a cost of $12m has collapsed.

It is being constructed by the Chinese Overseas Construction and Engineering Company.

The bridge collapsed two weeks after the president visited the site to examine the ongoing work.

The construction of the bridge was approved after the event of August 30, 2014, when 11 people perished after a boat they had boarded capsized, killing everyone on board as they attempted to cross the river, Africa Review says.

The bridge, which is being constructed in Kenya’s Budalang’i Constituency near the border with Uganda, collapsed a fortnight after President Uhuru Kenyatta inspected it.

One of the victims of the boat capsize was Brian Juma, a JSS3 student whose burial, among other victims, was attended by President Kenyatta who then promised that a bridge would be constructed to avert such deaths.

The cause of the collapse is yet unknown, though it is suspected that the construction was hurriedly done ahead of the president’s visit.

During the inspection, Project Manager, Jerome Xzue Hua, said they were focusing their attention on the concrete slab and embankment. “We did not focus much on road construction on the northern side because the most critical point of construction is the bridge’s slab.

“We expect to complete the bitumen work at the end of June for the entire three kilometres for both the northern and southern parts,” he had said. But for the current mishap, the project was expected to be completed by the end of July.

During President Kenyatta’s tour, area MP Ababu Namwamba said the bridge was a blessing to residents since it would significantly reduce deaths by drowning, and make it easier for people to access markets, schools and hospitals on either side.

Mr. Namwamba has been using the bridge as a campaign tool for his re-election for a third term and even broke ranks with opposition chief Raila Odinga to join forces with President Kenyatta through his Labour Party of Kenya.

SO TRAGIC: 30 YEAR OLD CORP MEMBER SHOT DEAD IN BAYELSA STATE

A young man identified as Samuel Collins, a graduate of Engineering from the University of Benin was yesterday shot dead by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers and cultists in Bayelsa state.

Prosper Collins bereaved brother Prosper Collins shared the graphic photos on Facebook writing: "What a Black and Dark Saturday, I was just at home, when MY Younger Brother Murphy called on me with a deep Groaning Tone, shouting were are U??? 3 or more times, with tension and confessions, all I COULD SAY was what? Then the news so traumatizing, that my Younger Brother SAMUEL COLLINS, Has been killed by an unknown GUN MEN, LIFELESS BODY IN THE POOL OF HIS BLOOD, just at the entrance of his resident close to NDDC KPANSIA at the hours of 9:05pm 24th June 2017, His phone and Wallet was taken away; what is YENEGOA TURNING INTO, life's aren't secured or valued anymore, wow!!!! Oh death. What's happening to our SOCIETY? MAY UR SOUL REST IN PEACE, ALL I CAN IS GOD KNOWS BETTER."

The Police Public Relations Officer at the Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat, said preliminary investigation showed that the killing was cult related adding that detailed investigation was ongoing to unravel those behind the dastardly act and apprehend them.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday evening on Melford Okilo Road, INEC/Kpansia area of Yenagoa metropolis.

Mr. Collins was accosted by the hoodlums at INEC Road junction on his way to the Nigerian Content Development and Management Board’s office on Isaac Boro Expressway, where he was undergoing training.

According to witnesses at the scene, the young man was gunned down when he tried to drag his phones and valuables with his assailants.

A witness, who wished anonymity, said Mr. Collins was shot by the gunmen at a close range on his head.

He said the bullets from the hoodlums’ guns shattered the victim’s head resulting in massive loss of blood out of his brain. The gunmen abandoned the lifeless body of their victim, fled the scene after making away with his phone, money and other valuables.

The victim gave up the ghost after struggling with death for some minutes before help could come his way belatedly. Some of his friends described Mr. Collins as an easy-going and brilliant young man.

They confirmed that the police had since removed his body and deposited it at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.

According to them, arrangements were being made to take his remains to his hometown, Port Harcourt, Rivers for burial.

The pastor’s marital and pre-marital counselling has featured in his messages for decades. But some of his teachings can be too radical or conservative to swallow, in an era of social media in which many are easily offended.

At the church’s annual congress last August, Mr. Adeboye drew social media backlash when he suggested that only women who can cook qualified for marriage.

“Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook, she needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.

“Don’t marry a girl who is worldly! If you do, you have carried what you’ll worship for the rest of your life!” Mr. Adeboye said.

Despite the criticism, the pastor stated a few days later that he meant what he said.

The twenty-eight-year-old possesses speed, skill and an insatiable appetite for goals; he has also scored 120 goals in 189 games for Dortmund. He has a contract with Dortmund that runs till 2020, but the club’s new CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke has recently said that he will consider any offers for striker that meet the club’s relatively modest valuation. His asking price is ‘just’ seventy million euros, but any potential deal has to be done before the 26th of July.

He is gritty, hard-working and will trouble opposing defenders for all ninety minutes. He has a buy-out clause of one hundred million euros for clubs outside Italy, so it’s safe to say that we know his price. He also has age on his side and will only get better.

An eighteen year old Nigerian, Uwade Helen Akhere, has made history to becoming the cynosure of all eyes in faraway United State of America, as she won 11 Scholarships to American Universities to study after emerging tops in her academic pursuit at the Charlotte Catholic High School, according to a report by LeadersNG.

The young Nigerian who hails from Edo State, was the President of the Student Council of the prestigious Charlotte Catholic High School Charlotte NC, USA. The 2017 Signet II , Volume XXII, graduating compendium of the school shows her coming tops in debate, speech and Theology, among others.

Other awards include, National merit Scholarship commendation, the achievement awards for Charlotte Civitan Citizen and Charlotte post top senior in the class of 2017.

Universities wooing Uwade are Cornell University Tanner Dean’s Scholarship, Hampton University Undergraduate Merit Scholarship, Howard University Freshman Scholarship, Northwestern University Northwestern Scholarship, Northwestern University The 1851 Scholarship and Rice University Trustee Distinguish Scholarship.

It is worthy to note that the senior Class of 2017 has earned in Scholarship $21,231,383 for their many outstanding accomplishments.

The father of the 18 year old girl, a Law Professor at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Professor Jim Akhere, a former Commissioner, in the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria while speaking on the feat said it will not be far from the truth to label her daughter a genius.

He said: “I am so proud as a father and thankful to God for what my daughter has done. She has made the Country proud. It is commendable that She came out tops in her school, she was the President of the School and won she won 11 scholarship to different American Universities.

She has opted for Columbia University, an Ivory league. I am a law Professor, but I don’t think I know as much as my daughter, of whom i am really proud. She debates, sings, acts and she is tops in her academics. I’m eternally grateful to the Almighty for the gift of Uwa to humanity."

While urging Nigerian youths to take their academic pursuits seriously Professor Akhere added that some of the qualities that make for success in life are hard work, and focus. I do believe that there are those who are gifted, and even these will not get anywhere except they work hard because genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.

The elated academician also urged government to take the education and training of Nigerian youths more seriously, noting that it remain the best legacy any system can bequeath.

“Education is the best and fairest thing that the best of minds can ever have. Any government that does not take education seriously is not helping humanity. When you are young and you are given to life of acquisition of wealth to the detriment of education then there is a problem, knowledge is everything” He added.
