WILL BSU STAFF JOIN IN THE STATE LABOUR STRIKE WHICH BEGINS ON MONDAY? | READ THIS IN DETAIL

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has condemned the refusal of the Benue Government to pay salaries, pensions and gratuities after collecting bail-out funds and Paris Club refunds.

Mr Ayuba Wabba, NLC President expressed the union’s view in a statement signed by Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, NLC General Secretary in Abuja.
Wabba was quoted in the statement as saying this when he led a delegation of the National Leadership to Makurdi in solidarity with the workers in the state after their one week warning strike.
Wabba at the end of the exhaustive interaction with the State Executive Council (SEC), described the Benue State situation as the worst case scenario in the country.
“Benue State situation has with a record of seven months of non-payment of salaries in ministries and parastatals; eleven months in local governments and teaching institutions, and thirteen months of pension arrears.
“I want to condemn in strong terms the refusal of the Benue State Government to pay salaries, pensions and gratuities even after collecting bail-out funds and Paris Club refunds.’’
He expressed shock and dismay that whereas most other states, relatively had met salary and pension obligations to workers and pensioners.
The NLC president noted that the Benue State Government had been indifferent and insincere to workers and pensioners.
He, however, said that the wilful act of the government was illegal as it violates all known rules of employment.
According to him, this is callous, morally reprehensible and a betrayal of the trust of workers and pensioners, who had voted the government into office.
“In light of the pains and indescribable suffering brought upon the workers, pensioners and their families, Congress had no hesitation in giving full support to any lawful action.
“This is including a full strike action, in pursuit of their salaries, pensions and gratuities,” he said.
He urged the workers and pensioners to remain united and not allow government or anyone else to distract them from their set objectives.
Wabba also said that experience had shown that state governments were not ready to pay salaries and pensions without a fight.
He added that that it was up to the workers in the state to do the needful to secure the regular payment of their salaries and pensions.
He also urged the workers and their families to ensure that they obtain voters registration cards and to equally vote en mass at elections as part of the process of using their numbers and rights.
Wabba further said the Congress would no longer fold its arms while workers in the state are grossly mistreated.
It was also resolved that the SEC would urgently take required steps to fully mobilise all the workers of the state for effective action to defend their interests.
He also assured the workers of the national leadership readiness to offer full support in that rega

NIGERIA'S INVESTMENT IN ICT HITS $70BN - NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said on Wednesday that investment in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector has hit 70 billion dollars.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta disclosed this while unveiling the Nigeria Pavilion, at the ongoing International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2017 in Busan, South Korea.

According to him, in 16 years since the Digital Mobile Licences (DML) were issued, investment in the sector has hit about $70 billion from a mere $50 million in 2001.

”Most of these investments are Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs). ”Although, we have made very modest progress in the sector, we still need to deepen investments to make broadband pervasive in the country.
”We are at 21 per cent now and our target is to hit 30 per cent by 2018, consistent with the National Broadband Plan,” Danbatta said in a statement.

He said that Nigeria came to the ITU Telecom World every year to tell its story, share its experiences and borrow a leaf from global best practices.

According to him, Nigeria comes to Telecom World to address its concerns, engage and collaborate with the global community to strengthen the growth and impact of the Nigerian Telecoms Industry.

5 SECRETS FOR GETTING YOUR DUBAI VISA APPROVED

Dubai is the new Paris or London for Nigerians. They travel to the city for tourism, honeymoon, destination weddings, shopping, business, events and other fun activities. This is because of the flexibility of getting a Dubai visa. Despite this, so many people are still being denied a Dubai visa. Well, if you want to get your Dubai visa approved, Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares some of the secrets of making this possible.
Inclusion of skilled profession(s) in the application form
Endeavour to include a skilled profession in your visa application form to increase the likelihood of your visa being granted. In the absence of a skilled profession, your experience in certain career paths might suffice. The embassy, however, will be the judge of what profession is acceptable to merit a visa.

Consent letter for single or married women below 24 years
Dubai is an Islamic country, no doubt. Consequently, women – either married or single – are not permitted – by religion – to travel solo. This Islamic rule doesn’t place this restriction on women 24 years & above. To aid your chances of getting a visa if you are a woman below age 24 and plan to travel solo, you need to submit a letter from your spouse or family member – indicating that express approval has been given you to travel solo – along with your visa application. The letter of approval would act as a cover.

No records of past criminal or fraudulent activities
Dubai is one of the strict countries that will not allow people with criminal or fraudulent backgrounds to be admitted into the country. You will be blacklisted immediately. So, when you eventually get a visa to Dubai, endeavour not to engage in criminal activities so as not to forestall your future chances of getting a visa.
Always cancel your resident visa
If you were a holder of Dubai resident visa but left the country without cancelling it, you would not be able to apply for a new visa. In this case, you have to ensure that your old resident visa is cancelled before you apply for a new one.

Marriage counts…as long as there are wedding pictures
Dubai is one of the preferred honeymoon destinations for many Nigerians. Therefore, if you choose to honeymoon in Dubai, there are some documents you would be required to submit to obtain a visa. These are a wedding picture (of you and your spouse), marriage certificate and no objection certificate from your parents. If these are not submitted, your visa may get rejected.

FARMERS FLEE AS HERDSMEN RETURN TO IMO COMMUNITY

HerdsMen
Scores of  farmers in Amakohia-ubi community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, yesterday, fled on sighting Fulani herdsmen patrolling their farmlands.

This came less than a month after the herdsmen, who destroyedover 200 farms, left the community. Vanguard spoke with President-General of the community, Mr. Cyril Ndumanya, in Owerri, who raised the alarm that the farmers are now living in fear over the return of the herdsmen to their community.

According to him, the herdsmen moved into the community at night, adding: “The situation in Amokohia-ubi community is that the people are not happy. Our people have developed fear, because of the return of the herdsmen.
“It will be recalled that Vanguard newspapers  reported the invasion of our farmlands by the herdsmen. After that report, they left the community about August 19, but now they are back. I do not know what is their plan. We do not know what actually is in their minds.
“The youths are not happy and we are trying to calm them down. The situation is very critical. This time around they have extended to other parts of the community.
“This is a very serious situation. They entered into out community at night. They didn’t come in at daytime.
“You know that the damage they did the last time was enormous. We want the authorities to know that the herdsmen have taken over our farms. These people should be dealt with within the ambits of the law and we want them to leave our land.”
A woman who simply identified herself as Chinwe, said: “I could not stay long in my farm, because I saw one of the herdsmen holding something like a gun and a cutlass.”
Vanguard investigation revealed that the youths of the community have decided to drive the herdsmen away from their territory, on the ground that the herdsmen may be hostile to them.

AFTER 38 YEARS OF BEING RULED BY ONE MAN, ANGOLA FINALLY GETS A NEW PRESIDENT

Angola’s first new president in almost four decades vowed to rebuild an economy devastated by falling oil prices and fight corruption at his inauguration on Tuesday.
João, New President Of Angola

João Lourenço told thousands of supporters in Luanda he would also tackle gaping inequality in Africa’s second largest oil producer - though analysts have already raised doubts about his ability to make far-reaching change.

“No one is so rich and powerful that they cannot be punished and no one is so poor that they cannot be protected,” he said to loud applause.

In a 45-minute speech, Lourenço said he would strive to bring in reforms covering gender equality, the freedom of the press, private enterprise and public health.

Former president Jose Eduardo dos Santos remains head of the ruling MPLA party, giving the veteran leader influence over key policy decisions.

Any serious attempt to transform the country could put Lourenço on a collision course with senior party figures and powerful interest groups.

Angola’s economy fell into recession last year, while unemployment is officially over 20 percent and a shortage of foreign currency has forced firms to pull back operations.

Lourenço said he would work to reduce state intervention in the economy and give free enterprise the space and support to thrive.

He has previously said he does not rule out negotiating a deal with the International Monetary Fund or World Bank to help rebuild an economy heavily reliant on oil.
“There are enormous challenges before us ... We call on the help of everyone on this difficult journey,” he said.

BIAFRA: PDP REACTS TO PROSCRIPTION OF IPOB AS A TERRORIST GROUP, BLASTS APC

IPOB members
The Peoples Democratic Party has advised the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government to look inward in resolving the Indigenous People of Biafra crisis. The party gave the advice in a statement by its National Caretaker Committee’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, on Tuesday in Abuja.

It said that it was again constrained to react to a statement credited to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, noting excuses and blame-game would not help in solving the problem.

The party said that the minister on Sunday tried to shift blames of the poor handling of the agitations of IPOB by the current administration to an opposition. According to it, it is worrisome that government blamed opposition parties, which they have conveniently labelled looters, for the activities of IPOB.

It urged the APC to look inward in locating the looters using their ill-gotten wealth to sponsor separatist agitation against the government of the day. It stated that no external enemy was working against the APC government and advised the party to do soul-searching and correct the anomaly.

“We wish to put on record that agitation for actualisation of the State of Biafra was a total silent voice while the PDP was in power.
“That was because of the Government of inclusiveness we provided for Nigerians who were made to experience what a genuine national government meant.
“Finally, as a party, we had condemned and we are still condemning separatist movements tailored towards balkanising the nation.”

I DONT KNOW THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE I HAVE KILLED WITH MY DRUGS - FAKE DOCTOR CONFESSES IN LAGOS

The fake doctor
A 42-year old fake doctor, John Anopuem has confessed that he gave drugs to patients without prescription as such he could not say the number of the patients that may have died in the process of using those drugs.

PM Express reported that the suspect also confessed that he administered drugs through guess work. Sometimes it worked and at other times it was harmful to the patients which might result to death. The Orlu Imo State-born was arrested and paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgar at Ikeja, Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested at his store located at Seriki Aro Street in Ikeja where the police also recovered some suspicious drugs as exhibits. Some of the drugs recovered from the suspects include Emzolin, Tuxils, Codeine and many others.

Parading the suspect with other criminals, Edgar said it was one of the efforts the police was making to make the state crime free that led to the arrest of the suspect.

Edgar thanked the public for partnering with the police on his new police policy to combat crime in the state. He promised that the police will continue to put up their best and work with the public so that the criminal elements will have no hiding place in the society.

While speaking to journalists, the suspect admitted that he was actually selling those drugs without giving normal prescription as recommended.
“It was a mistake I made and I could not say it was not harmful and I cannot confirm the number of the patients that may have died as a result of wrong prescription of the drugs,” he said.

He said if he was given another opportunity, he would not do such and hoped he will settle the matter with the police. But contrarily, CP Edgar said the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.

SHOCKER: MAID CAUGHT RED-HANDED FORCING 5-YEAR OLD BOY TO FONDLE HER PRIVATE PART

File photo: Used for illustration
A Zimbabwean maid who was employed by a Hwange family has appeared in court yesterday on allegations of forcing her employer’s five-year-old daughter to caress her privates for s*xual pleasure.

According to Newsday, this was heard when Petronela Mathabisa Ncube (20) of DRC, Empumalanga, appeared before Hwange magistrate, Rosemary Dube, charged with indecent assault.

Prosecutor Portia Munsaka told the court that sometime between June and August this year, Ncube would invite the minor to her bedroom and order her to undress her and to tickle her genitals until she was s*xually satisfied.

Ncube allegedly threatened to assault the girl if she did not comply or reported the matter to her parents.

The matter came to light when the minor’s mother allegedly caught them in the act, and filed a police report.

Ncube has denied the charge and was remanded in custody to today for trial.

CIVIL SERVANT REMANDED IN PRISON FOR INSULTING GOMBE GOVERNOR

Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo
A 35-year-old man, Abubakar Adamu, has been remanded in prison by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Gombe for allegedly insulting the state governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and his mother.

The Civil servant with the State Ministry of Higher Education was sued by one Inuwa Dattijo, aka DJ Maitaya of the State Agency for Social Services, who alleged that the accused sent him an audio clip containing insults on the governor and his mother.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Habibu Danjuma, informed the court that when the accused was asked to name the purported sender of the message, he failed to give a satisfactory account of the said information.

Danjuma said "The accused was charged with one-count charge of fabricating false evidence, an offense that contravened Section 156 of the Penal Code Law.’’
However, the court did not take the plea of the man.

After listening to Adamu, the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

The case has been adjourned to September 26th.

"I ONCE SLEPT ON THE STREETS OF GHANA" - PATORANKING

Patoranking
Even as he has attained fame and become a celeb, not many people would know that dancehall singer, Patoranking, had been in the music business for over a decade. Interestingly, the young man has seen the other side of life in his quest to climb the stardom ladder.

While speaking on a programme on Cool FM, Lagos, the singer revealed that at a point in his life, he travelled to Ghana in search of greener pastures only to end up sleeping on the streets.

“Nigerians are very powerful people and if they like your song, you are likely to be a success in Africa. There was a point in my life that I travelled to Ghana in search of greener pastures but I ended up trekking and sleeping on the streets. I decided to come back to Nigeria. Then I released ‘Alubarika’ and ‘Girlie O.’ Both songs were a hit and in no time, I was invited to perform in Ghana, Kumasi Stadium to be precise. When they came to pick me, I counted the number of cars and it was 13. I was very surprised but was grateful to God,” he said.

Patoranking used the opportunity to disagree with his colleague, Mr. Eazi, who had once said that Ghanian music was heavily influencing Nigerian sounds as well as claiming that most Nigerian singers were copying his style as he was the one that popularised the fusion of Ghanaian and Nigerian sounds.

“We have been having this cultural exchange with Ghana way back since the time Tuface sang ‘My love’ which featured VIP from Ghana. Tic Tac and Tony Tetuila sang ‘Fefe ne efe.’ The musical cultural exchange between Nigeria and Ghana has been going on even before I finished secondary school. It is false for Mr. Eazi to say he started that style of music because he did not help me sing my hit song, ‘My Woman.’ I did it myself and the song is a global hit song. It is the biggest afrobeat song in the Caribbean. I do not agree with his statement. It is wrong.”

PARTY DANCE FOR AREWA YOUTHS, PYTHON DANCE FOR IPOB

Reno Omokri
I read the statement by the former Deputy Director of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Council, Mallam Mohammed Lawal with great amusement.

Mr. Lawal, who is one of President Muhammadu Buhari's lopsided recent appointees to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (AKA Northern Nigeria Petroleum Corporation) wants Nigerians to believe that former vice President Atiku Abubakar, has been plotting the downfall of President Muhammadu Buhari since 2014.

I find the allegation laughable. Why, you may ask?

Well, because it is silly for any ally of President to say Atiku Abubakar plotted President Buhari's failure. Does anybody need to plot the failure of a man who still calls Germany 'West Germany'? Was it Atiku's plot that made Buhari wait and waste six months before setting up a cabinet of square pegs in round holes? Atiku did not force Buhari to make promises he could not keep like making $1 equal to ₦1 or creating 3 million jobs per annum.

Even before day one didn't Nasir El-Rufai warn Nigerians in 2010 that 'if you ask Buhari, he will think that Blackberry is a fruit.'

A serial plagiarizer who plagiarized Barack Obama's and Charles De Gaulle's speeches, who surrounds himself with the likes of Amaechi, who is still afraid of rats as an ex general, needs no one to plot his failure!

Just as you have an auto-correct function on your phone, so does President Buhari have an auto-fail function in his government. He does not need an Atiku to plot his failure!

Let me cite an example. Two weeks ago, Benue state experienced a cataclysmic flooding of almost biblical proportions. Many pundits, including yours truly, appealed to the President to at least visit the victims of the flood to give them moral support.

However, the President chose to ignore the 100,000 families that had been rendered homeless and I thank God that this same Atiku Abubakar who they claim is plotting the President's failure was able to plot his way to donating ₦5 million to the suffering victims.

But that is not where the story ends. President Buhari who refused to visit Benue shocked right thinking people by visiting Kaduna even while the people of Benue (who coincidentally voted for him) had not had the pleasure of his visit.

President Muhammadu Buhari is strong enough to visit Kaduna state to commission a poultry but not strong enough to visit Benue to commiserate with humans. ‪You visit with poultry but not people. Why does it seem as if this administration values animals over human beings? ‬

Recall that when Nigerians were facing possibly the worst food crisis in our history, Buhari's minister of Continue reading»

"DON'T LET NNAMDI KANU MISLEAD YOU" FR EJIKE MBAKA BREAKS SILENCE ON BIAFRA

Fr Ejike Mbaka
In a three-minute video clip posted online, the outspoken Enugu-based Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, broke his silence about the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and the agitation for secession from Nigeria.

Mbaka who insisted that Igbos were not hated, stated that Kanu and the other Biafra fighters, should not be the ones in the forefront of the battle.

The infulential cleric said: “Nobody should deceive you saying that ‘Igbos are hated’. That’s how we (Igbos) believe nonsense. The poor masses are told to agitate for Biafra. “There is nothing wrong in Biafra. But those that say they want Biafra now (or never) should come out let us see the crème of the Igbos then we all will push for Biafra. “Let the crème de la crème among the Igbos be at the forefront while the poor masses that loiter the streets in the name of Biafra will support from behind. “The right thing is for parents to protect their children from danger. I am not against Biafra but let the Igbo political elites; the Ubas of Anambra, Peter Obi, Ekwueme, Ekweremadu, Nnamanis, Sullivan Chime, Anyim Pius Anyim, I (Mbaka) etc should be the ones pushing for Biafra not our children who get killed on the streets every day. “Where are the Igbo political elites? They are in hiding in Abuja and overseas. They have sent these children to push for Biafra and they have gone in hiding. That is not leadership.  "A leader should be in front to take bullets for his followers just as Christ willingly gave his life for his followers. A leader is not one who will sit and sacrifice the poor for his ambition.” Watch below;

ASUU STRIKE ILLEGAL, LECTURERS WON'T BE PAID - GOV EL RUFAI DECLEARES

Gov Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State
Governor Nasir El-Rufai led administration has declared the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, as illegal.

The government also said that it will not pay for days lecturers of the state owned university did not work.

El-Rufai’s spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement lamented the ongoing action, noting that there was no dispute between the government and the striking lecturers.
“The Kaduna State Government is in receipt of communication from the Kaduna State University, KASU branch of ASUU, confirming that the branch has joined the nationwide strike because they are full members of the national union”, he said.
“This is unacceptable to the state government. It is an anomaly that employees can be on strike without declaring a dispute with their employer.
“It bears restating that Nigeria is a federation of states, and no trade union can alter this federal reality by imposing on an employer state government the terms that federal employees have agreed with the Federal Government.
“The Kaduna State Government is not affected, or bound by any dispute, disagreement or agreement ASUU may have with the Federal Government. As a sub-national entity, the Kaduna State Government is separate from the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Constitution of Nigeria clearly attests to this.
“It is the considered view of the Kaduna State Government that the KASU branch of ASUU has embarked on an unlawful strike. Therefore, the Kaduna State Government is not liable for salaries and allowances for the period of the unlawful strike.
“The government shall proceed to initiate the necessary disciplinary steps in accordance with Kaduna State Public Service Rules with respect to the individual acts of commission or omission of those that choose to join or persist in an unlawful strike”, the statement added.

NA: OPERATION PYTHON DANCE IN SOUTH EAST

Men of the Nigerian Army
Does the military really think its relaunch of ‘Operation Python Dance’ in the South East, with the claim that it is meant to fight kidnapping and other criminal activities, is believable? If it does, it means that the leadership of that institution takes Nigerians for fools, especially at a time when kidnapping, armed robbery and sundry crimes abound in other parts of the country without any major deployment of soldiers. Yes, kidnappings and armed robbery are rampant on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria expressway flank, for instance, to the extent that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had to remove all police DPOs, Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) in the area, yet soldiers have not been massively deployed. There are also kidnappings and crimes in other parts of Nigeria, but the military has not been unleashed soldiers on residents and people of the affected areas. Therefore, there is more to singling out the South East for such show of military strength and might.

Indeed, it is pertinent to ask these questions: Why is it that a legion of soldiers and military hardware have been deployed to the five states of the South East when there is no war or insurrection in the place? Why is it that Abia and other South East states are swarming with armed soldiers, who are brutally dealing with people, against global military rule of engagement, relating to civilians?  Why has the military chosen to raise unnecessary tension in the South East and further worsen security situation?  For the avoidance of doubt, the hitherto peace enjoyed in the South East geopolitical zone, despite the wrong picture the authorities were painting, has been deflowered with the military deployment. Now, Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, is under curfew, from as early as 6pm, with residents afraid to even step out for their legitimate businesses during the day. And people are being victimised, tortured and maimed because of the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Reports and video clips on the military operation in the South East show the most inhuman treatment of innocent people by this invading army. The soldiers are executing orders in the most callous way, flogging their victims like animals, making them to lie down in ponds for hours and liquidating some of them in the process.  I have really wondered what message the government thinks it is sending out to the Igbo and the world.  At a time south easterners need protection, they are getting horrendous treatment in their own land. Coming just a few months after a coalition of Arewa youths issued a quit notice to Igbo living in the North and no action was taken against them, the ongoing military operation further shows the treatment of Nigerians on unequal measures. If Arewa youths issued a quit order to Igbo to vacate the North, and there was no military deployment in the areas wherein the Igbo were under threat, and the military turns around to deploy troops to South East, it says much about how the Federal Government perceives people from the South East.  To say the least, if there is anywhere the military and the government are supposed to deploy soldiers, it is in the North, where the Igbo and other non-indigenes are living in fear, following an earlier quit order.

Granted that the Arewa youths have suspended the quit notice, the government knows that there is need for security guarantee in the North, especially as the October 1 earlier deadline approaches. For one, Arewa youths outlined conditions on which they suspended the quit order. Therefore, there is still the feeling that Igbo are not safe in the North. And the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari, in his ‘return home’ broadcast, did not condemn, outright, that quit order, but only said all Nigerians were entitled to live and do business in any part of the country leaves much to imagination. Of course, condemning the quit order and saying that Nigerians were entitled to live and do business in any part of the country are not the same thing. Whereas the former is an assurance that the government, which President Buhari leads, is against the quit order, the latter is stating the obvious, as the constitution gives Nigerians the liberty to live and do business anywhere in the country, within the ambit of the law.

At present, tension has been heightened by the indiscretion of deploying troops to the South East. Just as it did not achieve anything tangible in 2016 other than making the agitation for Biafra to resonate, when Nnamdi Kanu was under incarceration, the chances of the government achieving anything currently is low. Using force to suppress people who feel shortchanged in a country they think they have equal rights would not work. Rather, it will increase the agitation and a feeling of alienation. By its actions, there is no doubt that the government has not learnt any lesson from the mistake of arresting Kanu, in the first place, over Biafra agitation. Whether the government believes it or not, the arrest of Kanu was one of the most fundamental errors it has made. This is because with the arrest and detention, Kanu was transmogrified from a simple director of Radio Biafra to the youths’ hero and his followers’ symbol of emancipation. And the worst mistake the government would make is to re-arrest him or to drive IPOB, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) and other agitating groups in the South East underground. This was the error made in the Niger Delta, which did cost Nigeria a lot, until the late President Umar Yar’Adua, in his wisdom, initiated the amnesty programme and quelled the agitation in the region.

The current government’s attitude would not produce good result. Those advising the government to toe that line may think that crackdown would stamp out agitation in the South East, but it is apparent that this would increase it. When the things that fuel Biafra are left unaddressed, there is no way the agitation or identification with it would go away. Just like government believed that arresting Arewa youths, who issued quit notice to Igbo would have further increased tension and insecurity, re-arresting Kanu, through military force or the revocation of his bail would cause the same. Such plot, if it is the goal of Operation Python Dance, will be a disaster. Therefore, the government should retrace its steps, withdraw the military from the South East and allow the dialogue the South East governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo initiated to run its course. It does not make sense that just three weeks after South East governors, Ohanaeze organisation and some Igbo leaders met with Kanu and his group, with the plan of further meetings, the government ordered a military onslaught. Such an act shows that some unpatriotic elements in government do not really wish the country well and, therefore, taking actions to exacerbate problems.

For the IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups’ leadership, they should know that caution is not a mark of cowardice. They should know when to talk and how to say it, when to keep quiet and when to play the fool. Confronting military personnel, who are on a mission to kill, will only be counter-productive. Doing so will be tantamount to playing into the hands of those  looking for an opportunity to descend on the Igbo. And for other Nigerians who are watching and clapping for the military and government, as the Igbo are being dealt with, one message is this: Those who sit back and commend evil tendencies will, one day, discover that they would not be spared. Igbo are being dealt with today and others are not talking. This will embolden those carrying out this suppressive programme. Tomorrow, the oppressors of our people will take on others. And the undemocratic practices as well as dictatorship will subsist.

DRAMA AS ANGRY WIFE GRABS HUSBAND P*NIS FOR DENYING HER S*X DURING FASTING AND PRAYER

Venson Masuku and his wife Langelihle Moyo
A Zimbabwean woman from Matsheumhlope suburb in Bulawayo ran berserk and viciously grabbed her husband’s testicles and yanked them hard as payback for refraining from s*x during a fast.

According to B-Metro, after being fed up with being ignored by her husband Venson Masuku, the seemingly s*xually frustrated Langelihle Moyo couldn’t hold back her emotions when she repeatedly squeezed his testicles until he reportedly collapsed as he screamed for help.

Narrating his ordeal at the Bulawayo Civil Court where he sought a restraining order against his wife, Masuku said 30 August 2017, would forever be remembered as the day he narrowly missed the claws of death. He said his wife had a tug-of-war game with his jewels after he refused to have s*x with her.

This was after he received a prophecy from church that he should refrain from s*x while fasting for their sick child.

“I am seeking a protection order against my wife because she is abusive. She is always assaulting me, the latest incident being on 30 August when she pulled my private parts at the same time shouting at me with vulgar language.
This was after I had refused to have s*x with her since I was fasting.
“Your Worship, I refused to entertain her s*x demands after I received a prophecy from church that I should refrain from s*x for some days since our child was not feeling well. In a fit of anger she then repeatedly pulled my testicles saying she wanted to have s*x with me,”Masuku said amid sobs.

Masuku who was nearly rendered impotent begged the court to protect him from his abusive wife by granting an order that barred her from harassing him.

Defending herself Moyo said her husband was the one who triggered the fight by forcibly grabbing her on the neck.
“Some of the accusations he levelled against me are not true. What happened on the day in question is that he forcibly grabbed me by my neck before I pushed him away and in the process I ended up grabbing his private parts so that he could set me free,” said Moyo.

After the couple’s submissions, the presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova in his ruling ordered Moyo not to physically harass her husband or to conduct herself in a violent manner towards him.

MINISTER FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS, AISHA ALHASSAN APOLOGISES TO APC OVER ALLEGIANCE COMMENT

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Aisha Alhassan has apologised over her comments regarding her political allegiance ahead of the 2019 presidential elections.

She tendered the apology during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, according to a report by The Independent.
The minister had a meeting with the Party’s national Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun behind closed doors. She later left the secretariat at exactly 4pm in a brown jeep, marked Kaduna DKA 536 AA.

Alhassan had recently pledged her loyalty to former vice president Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2019 general elections in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC.

The party had been slow in weighing in on the matter especially as the Buhari-led presidency had not really taken a position on whether to punish the minister or not.
