TELECOM OPERATORS DEMAND 100% INCREASE IN CALL, DATA TARIFFS

The telecom subscribers in the country will pay more for telecom services if the industry regulator accedes to telecom operators’ demand for 100% increase in prices of data and voice calls, Daily Trust has learnt.

Several sources within the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and from within the industry have told our reporter of the fresh move to review call and data tariffs upward by about 100 per cent.

An NCC official, who spoke to a reporter on condition of anonymity because he has not been cleared to speak on the matter, said telecom operators had been making a case for price increment since the first quarter of this year.

He said they complained of rising cost of production and that they could no longer carry on with current call and data prices.

“The costs of expanding capacity and their networks have increased with the devaluation of the Naira against the US Dollars, and most consumers now spend less on telecommunication services, especially voice calls, compared to previous years,” another official at the NCC said.

Experts said due to rapidly declining average revenue per user for voice calls, which since 2004 has decreased from just over $15 per month per subscriber to a new low of $4 due to the current economic crisis, telcos have been finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

In the last 10 years, a drastic reduction had been recorded in call and data tariffs. On-Net and Off-Net per minute tariffs which now stand at N12.01k and N12.64 respectively used to be N24 and N75.30k.

An industry source said if the NCC accedes to the telcos’ demand, subscribers will now pay close to N24 per minute and about N2,000 for one gigabyte of data per month, from N1000 currently being charged by most operators.

The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) had complained of decreasing revenue of its members due to increasing operating cost and intrusion of Over The Top services.

ALTON’s Chairman Engr Gbenga Adebayo said increasing usage of Over The Top (OTT) services by customers was adversely impacting on traditional telecoms platforms.

He quoted Ovum, the independent analyst and consultancy, as saying the growing adoption of OTT services by customers instead of traditional telecoms services will occasion global revenue loss of $386 billion over a period of six years (2012 - 2018) for the traditional telecom operators, thus endangering network development.

In Nigeria, investigations showed that voice minutes have been declining due to the impact of OTT. Engr Adebayo confirmed that the core voice and SMS revenues were decreasing continuously due to impact of OTT players who offer voice, video and messaging services free of charge to their users.

The increasing adoption of OTT applications by telecom subscribers is also negatively impacting on incoming international traffic as well as SMS at huge cost to the telcos but generating revenue to OTT, he added.

On the other hand, the National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) has advised NCC not to review the rates for voice and data services upward.

NATCOM’s President, Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo, said the review of the rates was not necessary, with the present economic situation of the country.

“I don’t think this is the right time to do any upward review. Government and its agencies, and the operators should be sensitive to the plight of the people.
“’They should understand that we are just coming out of recession and subscribers shouldn’t be confronted with this again,’’Ogunbanjo said.

He said that instead of reviewing the rates upward, the regulatory body and the operators should rather consider a downward review.

IMPORTANT TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND LOVE YOU MORE

What can make your girlfriend love you more? Here are some practical tips that will help you.

1. Listen to what she has to say. It might seem obvious to many, but some people still manage to miss this simple but crucial step. If you are having a conversation, really listen to her. Do not just pretend to listen and then make excuses as to why you did not hear her last sentence.

According to the old Russian saying, ‘women love with their ears’. However, women also appreciate being listened to. Even if she just has to vent about her annoying co-workers, pause your work and offer a sympathetic ear. We guarantee that it will not go unnoticed.

2. Compliment her. Women do love with their ears, so a well-timed compliment will do wonders for your romance. Do not focus only on appearance, although occasional mentions of how good her hair looks are important too.

Play to her strengths, compliment her on things she is most proud of. It can be a promotion, a successful meal, a win in a marathon, or anything she worked hard for. You can also try to reduce her personal insecurities by saying how much you love them and appreciate them for making her who she is.

3. Ask her advice. Almost any person loves being helpful and important. Your girlfriend will definitely appreciate it if you ask her help in resolving a difficult situation. This tip would work great if it is her area of expertise. However, it might be hard to think of what to ask the PhD of Quantum Physics. What is the meaning of life, maybe?

4. Be her support system. Every woman needs someone she can turn to when things do not go her way. In this situation, that person is you! If you see that she is upset about something, ask her about it. Nevertheless, do not press if she refuses to answer. Simply say that you are there when she needs you. Eventually, she will tell you, and you can figure it out together.

5. Do not be afraid of her tears. Many people feel very uncomfortable when they see open displays of intense emotions. But if you want to be the best partner you can be, set your feelings aside and offer your shoulder to cry on.

6. Leave the past in the past. Unless your girlfriend initiates the ‘ex talk’, do not ask her about her exes. You do not need to know who she was with before. You should only care about the relationship at hand. However, when she asks you about the people you used to date, do not compare them to her. Describe them as if you were describing one of your friends.

7. Have a good relationship with her family and friends. It does not mean that you have to be best friends with all of them. Be as nice as you can, even if your views on life are incompatible. If you absolutely hate all of them, try to limit your communication with them. Do not make your girlfriend choose between you and them. It is an unfair choice, and you will most likely loose.

8. Surprise her. This encompasses all of the cutesy romantic behaviour you can think of. Leave cute notes around the house, plan surprise dates, or show up at her workplace during lunch hour. However, make sure that she likes surprises beforehand. Do a ‘trial run’ in a safe environment or just ask her outright. Because nothing is worse than an unwanted surprise.

9. Treat her. This does not necessarily mean you need to spend ridiculous amounts of money just to please her. Make her favourite meal, take her to her favourite theatre, or massage her feet when she gets home. Little things like that will work better than any words. Although occasional big gestures like a luxurious romantic trip for two will be great for the both of you.

If you live together, do not think that she has to do all the housework. Divide the chores between you, and if she works more than you, offer to take over her responsibilities.

10. Give her space. You do not have to be together 24/7. Even though it is your partner we are talking about, you have no right to control her in any way. Let her have her moments of solitude, encourage her to hang out with her friends.

A good loving relationship should be built on trust. This means that you two can have your separate lives and still love each other immensely. Staying apart for a while will do you both some good. In those moments, try to calm your jealousy. Do not look for signs of cheating if they are not there.

11. Be yourself. This is the most important part many people forget about. If she is your girlfriend, it means that she already loves you. You do not have to jump out of your skin and demand the impossible. Just be the nicest version of yourself you can be. As long as you are a decent human being, she will love you with all you strengths and weaknesses.

These are all very generic tips. If you want to know what will definitely work for your girlfriend, why don’t you ask her? There is no definitive guide to how to make girls love you. Every woman is different, so do not be surprised if your typical wooing fails.

[MUST READ] 6 FEATURES TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING A LAPTOP

For the contemporary tech-smart population, a laptop is often regarded as more than just a work tool. Many rely on laptops for multi-faceted purposes spanning social, entertainment, educational and business-related needs.

This makes it imperative for the right decision to be made when shopping for a new device or a replacement unit for your old laptop.

According to the research and development unit of Yudala, here are major things to look out for when shopping for a new laptop.

(1) Size
Gone are the days when laptops weighed a ton and took up so much space. Ongoing advancements in the sphere of computer manufacturing have seen many refinements in laptop sizes. For students and busy executives, portability is a core requirement. The easier it is to fit your laptop PC into a small bag, the better.

Therefore, a laptop with a screen size between 12.5 to 14 inches and weighing between one to 1.5kg fits the bill. When shopping for such a portable device, it is often best to go for a notebook.

A notebook is a personal computer that foregoes some functionality to remain lightweight and small. Notebook computers are sleek, typically weigh less than five pounds and are small enough to fit easily into your briefcase or a backpack. An ultra book also falls into this category as they are portable and lightweight.

(2) Processor speed
Processor speed is a major selling point to look out for when shopping for a new laptop. Most computer applications require that the computer system meet minimum requirements in order for the installation to run. One of those requirements is processor speed. Processor speed measures (in megahertz or gigahertz) the number of instructions per second the computer executes. Intel’s core-based processors, including Core i3, Corei5 and Core i7, are usually the best bet for computing power as these processors deliver top performance.

(3) Screen quality/resolution
Considering the amount of time the average user spends working on a laptop, screen quality is a factor worth taking into cognisance when buying a laptop. The harsh glare from grainy laptop screens may pre-dispose users to side-effects as constant staring at the screen may result in redness, itching and blurring of the eyes, or headaches and migraines, in extreme cases. Touch-screen laptops, many of which are glossy, may also not be a good choice as it throws back many reflections, thereby putting the eyes under considerable strain. Closely related to this, you must consider the resolution of the laptop before making the buying decision.

If you fall into the class of heavy users who work on their laptop for upwards of eight hours in a day, it is more advisable to go for a high definition screen with resolution of 1600 x 900 or higher.

(4) Random access memory
Random Access Memory is a form of computer data storage which stores frequently used programme instructions to increase the general speed of a system. Depending on the type of laptop you wish to buy, a RAM of between 2G and 4GB and upwards will be required to get your system working optimally. Memory speed refers to the amount of time that it takes the RAM to receive a request from the processor and then read or write data. Generally, the faster the RAM, the faster the processing speed of your laptop. In other words, with a faster RAM, it is easier for you to use the laptop for your multimedia or multi-tasking activities. RAM speed is measured in MHz, millions of cycles per second, so that it can be compared to your processor’s clock speed.

(5) Battery
Bearing in mind the peculiar power supply challenges in the country, you are better off investing in a laptop with a strong battery that can guarantee at least up to 10 hours of battery life on average use. For a notebook, a battery capacity of 10,000mAH/3.7V or higher is adequately sufficient to begin with, especially as both the total charging capacity and life of a laptop computer’s battery will diminish as you use your computer.

(6) Price
Price is another significant factor to consider when shopping for a new laptop. Laptop prices are often predicated on the features of the device, especially the ones listed above. As such, a laptop with a faster processor speed and RAM would likely cost more than a model with less speed.

However, increasing competition in the market and more attention to research and development of new products makes it possible these days to find moderately priced devices boasting features that would naturally be found in models that are more expensive.

UNBELIEVABLE: THIS MAN BOUGHT A ROPE AND HELPED HIS OWN FRIEND TO KILL HERSELF WHILE RECORDING IT ON PHONE

An 18-year-old man identified as Tyerell Przybycien is accused of helping a girl commit suicide while he recorded it on his phone.

According to Metro UK, prosecutors say the young man bought rope and drove Jchandra Brown, 16, to a place where she could hang herself in Payson, Utah, on May 6.

He has been charged with murder.

Police searching the area found Przybycien crying on a nearby trail, reports deseretnews.com.

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Chaplin told the court how Przybycien asked if he wanted to hear ‘the whole story’.

He then explained how he had picked up his friend the previous night and taken her to the scene of her suicide.

Chaplin said: ‘Based on what he had told me, he had witnessed a traumatic event, and I was concerned. I wondered if we needed to get him help.’
The sergeant initially didn’t believe he was a suspect in the case.

He drove him back to the police department because he was concerned about his safety. While he was being interviewed, Chaplin got word from a detective that there was a video of the death on a phone near to where Brown’s body was found.

A note was discovered next to it that read:‘Watch the video, it’s on my phone.’
The court heard how the ten-minute video was being filmed by Przybycien. In it, he can allegedly be heard asking Brown to move. At one point he says: ‘Thumbs up if you’re OK.’
When she is no longer struggling, he adds:‘That’s when the brain stops getting any oxygen… I guess I’ll just leave this here now.’

IS IT REALLY GOOD TO SLEEP NAKED? SEE WHAT DOCTORS HAVE TO SAY

Scientists shave claimed that sleeping n*ked helps to do certain incredible things to the human body. These are some of those things.
Sleeping n*ked shouldn’t just be reserved for heatwaves – scientists claim it has a range of health-boosting benefits.
From boosting male virility to reducing stress, it seems simply peeling your clothes off before bed can cure all sorts of ailments and generally just make life a bit easier.
1. It’s literally the coolest thing you can do
The Los Angeles Sleep Study Institute claims that there’s a direct link between insomnia and poor body temperature regulation.
Their team of expert claims one of the reasons people wake up in the night and struggle to drop off again is because they’ve overheated.
However, by ditching the threads, the body can better maintain its own temperature and you’re less likely to wake up.
2. It helps combat heart disease
Getting a good night’s sleep has been found to directly affect your chances of getting diabetes or heart disease.
Researchers from the University of Warwick discovered that people who only slept a few hours a night were more prone to incident-impaired fasting glycaemia (IFG).
The pre-diabetic condition means that your body isn’t able to regulate glucose as efficiently as it should, and people diagnosed with it are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, and have a higher risk of heart disease and strokes.
3. It’s good for wannabe dads
A 2015 study concluded that men looking to start a family – or add to an existing one – should not only opt for roomy boxers, but also sleep in the nude.
Researchers tracked 500 men over a year, monitoring what pants they were wearing and their general sperm quality.
They found that men who wore loose boxer shorts and slept naked had sperm that was 25 percent less damaged than men who wore tight pants and kept them on at night.
4. Less clothes = more happy
A 2014 study of 1000 Brits revealed that the less fabric between partners the higher their happiness level.
Researches found 57 percent of couples who slept in the nude claimed to be happy together.
This was compared with 48 percent of pyjama wearers, 43 percent of women who wore nighties, and 38 percent of people who wore onesies.
5. It’s a stress-buster
The Huffington Post asked sleep expert Neil Robinson if there were any other benefits of stripping off before bed.
He said: “Sleeping naked helps to decrease cortisol, increases the growth hormone and balances melatonin, all of which work to reduce stress levels.”
6. Your skin appreciates it
Sleep expert Neil also told the publication that sleeping naked is good for your body, inside AND out.
He said: “Sleeping naked can also improve circulation and can keep your skin healthier.”

WHAT I WILL DO WHEN I GET TO HEAVEN, OBASANJO DECLEARS IN CHURCH

Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has given his reasons for wanting to go heaven and what he will do there when he makes it.
Olusegun Obasanjo
Chief Olusegun Obansanjo, Nigeria's ex President  on Saturday at Apostolic Faith Church said he wants to go heaven because he longs to sing among the heavenly host when he get there.

He said, “You have to be fully prepared for the second coming of our Lord, there is no compromise.
“I have a friend who will always say that when we get to heaven, we will be exhausted  praising God and it will be like a prison and very boring.
“But with what I have seen by the choir this afternoon, I will want to go to heaven and join the host to sing.
“If this is an example of what  praising God in heaven will be like, then I want to be  part of it. If what I have seen here is an indication of how heaven will be, I will like  go to heaven.
“Jesus Christ came to the world to show us the way to salvation and eternal life. We have a good heritage and we have everything to be proud of.”

“Gods grace abounds when we do not abuse it,”he said.

The District Superintendent, Apostolic Faith, West Africa, Rev. Adebayo Adeniran,  said that only tolerance, peaceful coexistence and harmonious living among Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political differences, could lead to meaningful development.

#GoogleForNigeria - WHO IS PROTECTING NIGERIANS FROM GOOGLE

Lagos lawyer, Enyioma Madubuike has raised interesting concerns about the launch of the Street View application in Nigeria as he highlights security and privacy concerns.

This week as part of Google’s move to further penetrate the Nigerian market through its ever innovative products it held the Google for Nigeria event where it announced among other things the launch of the Lagos on Street View.

And so finally, Nigeria joins the long line of countries entering the debate on the privacy and data protection issues that have plagued this otherwise useful tool. Google reports that it intends to extend the Street View to other Nigerian states immediately it has permission from the states to do so which implies that Lagos state has given permission for the roll out of Google Street View in Lagos. This alone raises fundamental issues about the process for adopting the technology in Nigeria but first what exactly is Google Street View.

What is Street View?
Google Street View is a web based application which augments Google Maps by providing panoramic street level images of various cities around the world. It was launched in 2007 in several cities in the United States, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide. Anyone from anywhere in the world can zoom in and see what the street actually looks like to passersby. Google uses roving vehicles that drive down the street taking millions of digital photographs to collect the necessary data.  The Street View application pieces these photographs together along with controls that allow users to step down the street, or turn their View to different angles.

What are the issues debated worldwide on Google Street View?
Google Street View is usually soldfor its usefulness in exploring public spaces, parks, museums, hotels and places of historical, cultural, and religious interest. However, questions about security and privacy have hampered the adoption of this technology in many cities around the world.
Privacy Issues
Arguments are ongoing in the international community as to whether the capture of people in a public place by a photograph without their permission constitutes an invasion of their right to privacy. Google’s position however has been that in a public place, an individual cannot reasonably expect a right to privacy. For example, if a person is accidentally captured in a photograph of a public place, say a historical monument, taken on a smartphone,he cannot claim that it violates his privacy. Street View pictures only show what is visible to anyone walking down a street. Private areas such as university campuses or amusement parks are added by agreement with the property owner.

However Street View represents a unique situation where a photograph is taken without either a warning to the individual or the individual’s consent, and can be accessed by anybody, anytime, anywhere, forever.

Further, although Street View images are captured in public areas, there have been instances of Google Street View cars driving on private roadways and complaints about images captured through windowsraising security and exposure concerns. Complaints like this led to Google accepting to automatically blur people's faces and car license plates to protect their privacy.Further, blurring can be requested by private individuals for faces, an entire house or car, and removal of images can be requested according to Google Street View’s privacy policies.

Although its policies prohibit adding panoramic photos that are an invasion of privacy to Street view, there is no definition of what constitutes an invasion of privacy. Google passes the initiative to find and report privacy violations. Oftentimes, the harm has been done before the affected person finds out and reports it. It is impossible for a person to constantly check Google Street View to ensure that no compromising images of them have been caught. Images on Google Street View may be from a few weeks to a few years old. It is hardly possible for people to go back that far in time and ensure that their privacy is not infringed.

Indiscriminate Wi-fi Data capturing
While capturing Street View Images, it has been shown that Google vehicles also monitor and collect information from Wi-Fi networks. In several cases Google has captured detailed personal information while monitoring unsecured networks. Many countries, including the United States and Canada, have expressed concerns to Google about the capture of Wi-Fi data during Street View mapping.

In agreeing to settle a case brought by 38 states involving the Street View project in the United States, Google has admitted violating people's privacyduring its Street View mapping project when it casually scooped up passwords, e-mail and other personal information from unsuspecting computer users. It did this by secretly collecting personal information — e-mail, medical and financial records, passwords — as it cruised by. It was data-scooping from millions of unencrypted wireless networks within the area. That settlement led to Google accepting to tighten its privacy monitoring policy in the United States and should serve as a point for discussion for other countries seeking to adopt the Google Street View technology.
Security Concerns
A few countries have expressed concernsabout the possibility of the use of Google Street View by criminals to spy on targets especially due to the ease of access. The Indian government recently refused to grant Google permission to cover India through Street View mainly because of the security concerns, like panoramic images available will aid terrorist attacks, and that sensitive areas such as nuclear establishments and defence areas can be exposed. Because of these concerns, it is clear that where any country decides to allow the Street View technology, it must enter into an agreement to restrict capture of sensitive locations. It will be irresponsibly naïve for any country to allow unrestricted access for Street View capturing.

DRUNK MAN MISTAKES WINDOW FOR TOILET DOOR, FALLS FROM 2ND FLOOR

A drunk man has suffered a really tragic misfortune after mistaking his room's window for the toilet door and falling off.

The man fell off from this window
Mr Alfred Ndlovu, a 58-year-old Zimbabwean man is battling for life in hospital after he mistook a window for a toilet door on the second floor of Bulawayo’s Vundu Flats and plunged about 10 metres to the ground.

According to The Chronicle, Mr Alfred Ndlovu of Plot 8 in Mangwe District who is suspected to have been in a drunken stupor, allegedly stepped out of a sitting room window at the block of flats in Makokoba suburb and fell to the ground.

He had announced to his drinking mate that he was going to the toilet.

Mr Ndlovu sustained serious head and body injuries and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The incident happened around midnight on Thursday.

Mr Ndlovu had been drinking with his relative only identified as Mr Mhlanga whom he normally visits from Mangwe.

Bulawayo Metropolitan Province police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the incident.

She said Mr Ndlovu allegedly jumped through a window and sustained serious injuries.
“He was drinking and when he wanted to visit the toilet, he mistook the sitting room window for a toilet door and fell off from the second floor. He is admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is being treated.”
Inspector Simango warned members of the public not to drink excessively to avoid such incidents.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity at the block of flats, said Mr Ndlovu was a frequent visitor at their place.
“We are not sure of the two men’s relationship but we have seen Ndlovu many times here at the flat. Usually when he comes around the two go out drinking.“On this night, the two had been out drinking and when they arrived home, they continued to drink inside their apartment. We don’t know what exactly happened but we were informed that a drunken man had fallen out of a window.“We were told that he wanted to go to the toilet when he mistook the window for the toilet door, resulting in him falling to the ground. He bled profusely from the head and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital,” she said.

The news crew failed to contact Mr Mhlanga as he was not at home.

10 YEAR OLD GIRL PREGNANT AFTER BEING RAPED BY HER UNCLE

Argentine authorities ordered the arrest of a man suspected of r*ping his 10-year-old niece, who is now pregnant, a prosecutor said Friday.

The girl had not realized she was pregnant until her mother took her to hospital after she complained of abdominal pains, prosecutor Alejandro Gulle told television station Canal 9 in the western city of Mendoza.

Doctors found the child to be 32 weeks pregnant.

“The girl is rather robust — that is why the pregnancy had not been noticed,” Gulle said.

The prosecutor said a chief attorney had questioned the child and ordered the arrest of her 23-year-old uncle, who lives with the girl and her family.

Gulle said the pregnancy was too advanced for an abortion to be viable, although that procedure is legal in Argentina in cases of r*pe.

MAN UTD TO SIGN IBRAHIMOVIC AGAIN AS COUTINHO HANDS LIVERPOOL TRANSFER REQUEST

Manchester United are in discussions to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the second half of the season when he recovers from a serious knee injury, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed on Friday.

The former Sweden striker was United’s top scorer last season, hitting 28 goals as they won the Europa League, the League Cup and the Community Shield.

However, he is without a club as he recovers from cruciate knee ligament damage sustained during the Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht in April.

Ibrahimovic’s one-year deal at Old Trafford expired in June and was not extended following the injury. He has trained with the club during his rehabilitation, though, and Mourinho has made clear he still believes the forward can do a job for him.

Ibrahimovic –- who had won league titles with every club he had played for before joining United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain a year ago — has made clear that he was disappointed to finish sixth with Mourinho’s team last season.

The United boss is aiming higher this time, and wants the 35-year-old to be a part of that effort.

“Zlatan is injured and needs time to recover,”Mourinho said on Friday. “He is not ready to play tomorrow, so it is not something that’s urgent. We are not desperate to have it (a deal) done or not.
“He wants more football at the highest level so we are having conversations and discussing the possibility of him staying for the second part of the season.”
United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday, having won six of their seven pre-season friendlies.

WHY I HATE MEN - LADY WHO GOT MARRIED AT 19 SHARES STORY

I fear who talk say marriage no de fear am..

I have written severally about marriage, how it is an institution and not a home of restitution, marriage is a graduate school where if we choose we can decide to go for Masters and PhDs, it is a process of learning, what I'm I trying to say? Marriage is a continuous study where we learn everyday and also have patience with our teachers, in this case our spouses

I have seen so many people ( women especially) jump and rush into marriage due to pressure, money, envy, spite, or she just wants to be a MRS. It is worse when you see an 18 year old lady fantasizing about marriage, using Amara Kanu as an example, she is amongst the 1% early marriage will work for, she has sense, patience, charisma and a good tolerant husband.

I was with four ladies yesterday who had something in common, they'd gotten married too soon, too early and two of them have been chased out of their homes while the other two hate their husbands with passion, one of them is the breadwinner so she says her husband had no say in their home.

The lady lying down was sent out or her husband's house after he got rich, she gave birth to two boys before she was sent packing, before she was sent packing the husband impregnated a woman older than she was and brought her home, this older woman has kids who she in turn brought to her new husband's house lol.

The other lady has just one girl, while the one screaming she hates men has four kids, she says she hasn't enjoyed sex for one day that the husband only has sex with her to impregnate her.

The other lady says she doesn't respect her husband anymore so she does with him as she pleases.

They were all trying to convince me how men are scum and shouldn't be handled with soft hands, in my heart I wept, my father wasn't scum to my mother, my brother isn't scum to his girlfriend, no man has ever treated me like scum, how do I convince these Women that they have a share in the blame too? I sat there consoling these ladies crying, look at me in my 20's consoling women old enough to birth me.

Marriage isn't a do or die affair, I have heard mockery statements about how Ibo women don't marry early because they like to hustle and make money, but these early marriage traits are rampant amongst Ibo women, it is a thing of pride to see their daughters get married early and also give birth early, this doesn't mean only Ibo women are guilty, far from it, it has become a general issue; it might have worked for our ancestors but we live in different times now.

One day my mother said to me " Ifeoma 30 is the right age for a woman to get married" in my heart I said what's she talking about now, but today I can see it, most ladies aren't mentally matured enough to look after themselves not to talk of getting married.

My heart aches when I see children from broken homes, I was a product of one before my parents got back together and then my dad died, I do not wish single parenthood on any child, except death was the case. These women haven't seen their kids for long because their husbands won't allow it, they can't go to court because they aren't educated, they were chased out like common thieves and other women brought in.

Education and skills acquisition remains the best legacy, always have a backupbreakup plan because no one knows tomorrow. Marriage isn't a source or income, be financially free and independent. See where these women live, they don't have a dime to their names and no skills to support themselves.

I hope someone learns from this, I tried to convince them not all men are scum but their minds are made up, I fear for the husband of that lady who hates men I hope he amends his ways so we won't read a gory story about a wife murdering her husband.

7 THINGS MAC USERS CAN DO THAT WINDOWS USERS CANT DO

1 – Back-up your files and data
Apple introduced its hassle-free Time Machine back-up solution alongside OS X Leopard back in October 2007.

And nine years on, nothing on Windows comes close. The effortless in-built app launches the first time you plug an external drive into your MacBook or iMac and checks whether you want to create a back-up. Time Machine saves hourly back-ups for the last 24 hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly back-ups for everything else.

These back-ups can be used to restore your computer to a specific date after a fresh operating system installation, or import all of your documents, music, files, saved settings and in-app preferences to a new computer.

But it’s not simply a case of all-or-nothing.

You can also delve into your back-ups via the stunning user interface, and shuffle through saved snapshots to retrieve a single file from a folder you deleted months ago. Once you’ve located the file in your back-up, you just drag-and-drop to a chosen folder on your current machine.

2 – Quickly preview the contents of a file
This incredibly simple feature – once you start using it – will leave you wondering how you ever lived without it.

Dubbed Quick Look, the system-wide functionality lets you peek into the contents of almost any file on your machine – without having to open it.

Apple users can quickly select a file within their Finder window and hit the space bar to launch a large preview window showcasing the contents of the file. Quick Look will let you scroll through a lengthy word document, zoom into a photograph, and will even play a movie file.

It’s incredibly convenient, and lets you double-check you have the right file before you commit to launching a fully-featured application like Photoshop, or Final Cut Pro.

It also means you no longer have an excuse for attaching the wrong file to an email.

3 – Defragging your hard drive
Any Windows users reading this will likely be familiar with the process of defragging their machine – rebranded to Optimise Disk in the most recent software updates – but Mac owners might be a little more confused.

Defragmenting the hard drive is something Windows users have to do at regular intervals to speed up their machines. It reorganises the data written to your hard drive and fills in any holes that have appeared, minimising how far the heads have to travel across the drive to load files or apps.

Apple’s desktop operating system, OS X, is designed differently to Windows and will quietly defragment your files in the background whenever you install new software. That means the system is always up-to-date.

4 – Uninstalling apps
On Windows and Apple desktop machines, users are asked to drag a file into the Recycling Bin or Trash to delete it from the system.

When OS X users want to delete an installed app, the same principle applies, meaning all they have to do is drag the offending software into the Trash.

Confusingly, Windows users cannot uninstall software using the same technique they use to remove unwanted files. Instead, Microsoft wants its users to launch a standalone app from the Control Panel dubbed Uninstall a Programme.

You then have to find the software you want to uninstall, select it, and then click Uninstall.

5 – Retrieve something you’ve deleted from your file
Apple introduced Versions alongside OS X Lion in October 2011.

This staggeringly useful feature catalogues a history of the document you are working on, as you save any changes. You can then browse through the different iterations of the document, comparing it side-by-side with the latest draft.

You can restore entire past versions, or bring single elements from past drafts – like an image you deleted three hours ago, or a line of text you drafted last year – back into your working document.

It’s essentially a super-charged version of Undo, and when it’s combined with Apple’s in-built Auto Save feature (which saves during pauses in your work, or should you work continuously, saves every five minutes) means you will never lose a detail you’ve overwritten or deleted from your file.

Granted, Windows users can retrieve entire files. But you’ll struggle to dig-out a conclusion you penned in the same Word Document six months ago.

6 – Move and rename a file, even when it’s open in another app
This is another entry that could baffle life-long Mac users, but Microsoft’s almost-universal desktop operating system kicks up an almighty fuss whenever you try to rename or relocate a file that’s open in another app.

“The action can’t be completed because the file is open in another programme,” the prompt warns users.

OS X users do not experience the same restrictions and can drag-and-drop files around the system without breaking a sweat.

Files can be renamed from the Finder, or from the open app.

And while we’re on the subject, Apple users have much more freedom when it comes to naming files. You may have noticed Microsoft throws its toys out of the pram whenever you try to the following characters in a filename / ?<> : * | “ . Granted, Apple has restrictions on characters, too. But this is limited to only one – the colon. And if try to type one by mistake, the OS automatically replaces it with a dash.

7 – Multi-touch gestures
As Apple has evolved the multi-touch display on its best-selling iPhone, many of the biggest innovations have emigrated across to the Mac range too.

Mac users can swipe between full-screen apps, scroll, launch Mission Control, pinch to zoom and rotate photographs by circling two fingertips on the trackpad. Apple has included a dozen or so more gestures, as well as a number of slickly-produced tutorial videos, enabled from within system preferences.

Expanding your thumb and three fingers apart across the trackpad, like you are miming brushing away the virtual windows on-screen, shuffles all of your open apps out of the way to reveal the desktop – a personal favourite.

Apple’s latest laptops include a Force Touch trackpad, which uses haptic feedback to imitate a physical click with accuracy. Force Touch also brings variable levels of sensitivity, driven through software, which lets users control the speed as they fast-forward through a QuickTime video simply by the amount of pressure applied to the trackpad.

You can also Force click on a name to quickly preview their contact details, Force click a tracking number in Safari or Mail to see shipping details in a popover, and more.

Granted, many Windows 10 PCs now ships with touchscreen displays, which solves some of the same problems as the multi-touch trackpad on OS X, but for our money, these often feel less intuitive on a desktop machine.

And as Apple continues to advance its Force Touch capabilities with macOS Sierra, Windows users could find themselves being left further and further behind.

JOBS: 5 POSSIBLE REASONS WHY YOU NEVER GOT A REPLY FROM YOUR JOB INTERVIEWER

From the moment you step out of the interview room, your eagerness and anxiety increases. You simply want to know the next step - to hear back from the Interviewers.

You become more glued to your phone so as not to miss any call and your email is always the first thing you check in the morning and before going to bed. Most frustrating is the fact that you knew you ought to ask some questions in a job interview which you rightly did.

Funny enough, unless you have an inside connection in the company, you probably might never know why you were never contacted but for those who didn’t, here are five solid reasons on why you never heard back from the Interviewers/recruiters.

1. Mistakes in your Resume:
There is no greater turn-off to an interviewer than a mistake-riddled CV/resume. No employer wants to place responsibility into the hands of an employee who can’t even write a document about themselves without mistakes. No doubt, your CV must first create an impression to the recruiter before you are even called up for an interview. If you know pointing to details is one of your weak points, it’s advisable to proof-read it well before the final submission or you get someone to do it for you.

2. The Interviewers/Recruiters Haven’t Made Up Their Minds:
Getting back to potential employees can be a daunting task to recruiters/interviews especially when all the candidates for the post all seemed to be qualified. When this is the case, be sure that the recruiters are still in doubt about the best person for the job.

3. You are simply not Qualified:
Long term job search can force you to churn out sporadic CVs and resumes to positions you are not qualified for. Doing this won’t help you at all rather you can channel your energy on things you can be doing if you are unemployed

4. Poor Interview Skills:
Your CV/Resume is an award-winning one. And so what? (Paying a professional copy writer to write or edit it for you is as simple as ABC. I am not saying it’s wrong. I encourage it as long as it will land you an interview). Know this, the words on the paper is not enough to land you the job the words coming out of your mouth are riddled with grammatical blunders.

While slang in an interview is a total no-no, try as much as possible to avoid the use of ”yeah”, ” eh eh em!. (you would simply be perceived as not being confident and tenable to lying). This alone is enough to turn your Interviewer(s) off and make the whole interview process boring.

5. Your Social Media Speaks Bad About You:
This might be strange to you. Recruiters are simply adopting ”ridiculous” means daily to disqualify applicants especially when there are two qualified candidates for a single post. A background check on your social media profile might be all the employer need to decide hiring you or not.

From your LinkedIn, Facebook account to Twitter, always maintain some levels of professionalism. Using a female picture as your Display Picture when you are a male is darm unprofessional as a job seekers. You probably don’t know who is watching.

BONUS
6. Your Appearance is off the Hook:
While a first impression goes a long way in endearing you to your potential employer(s) the truth remains that recruiters are continuously judging a book by its cover daily. Even though we castigate recruiters who do not do enough to see the potentials of those they are interviewing due to their shady appearance, as an applicant, try as much as possible to keep in touch with the fashion trends of your day. An eighteenth century dressing mode in this age is enough to shut the door against you.
